Concern for Saddam

I predicted yesterday that Keith Locke would rush out a press release demanding Saddam Hussein be treated well.

Keith is never one to disappoint, and sure enough he has said that Saddam must not have

Much as I dislike Bush’s views in general I think he has a point. Why should nations (NZ included) who have not actively committed their resources during the war reap the benefits of reconstruction? There is a big difference between being pissed at not getting some of the action in terms of contracts to rebuild Iraq and “campaigning for the reconstruction to be a failure” or cheering “every time the terrorists blow up a soldier.”

I don’t believe the government should “ban NZ firms from bidding for reconstruction work in Iraq” but neither should the firms concerned be surprised at the lack of enthusiasm for NZ’s embarrassingly belated interest in the region.

Never a truer word spoken. Check out Gabriel Ash’s sick little article on this subject posted at Yellow Times on the 10/12/03 (I think), in which he not only advocates killing US soldiers in Iraq as a way to get Bush’s attention, but also suggested the Iraqis kill civilian contractors sent there for the reconstruction projects.

I fired a missive off to this sick little fuck and got a charming little piece back in my email suggesting that he had seen people beaten to death in wall mart (I presume he meant Wal Mart) carparks for giving voice to these sentiments.

Around this time I also got a heartwarming little letter delivered to my personal address stating “you fucking American apologist sack of shit. Be seeing you.” It was signed “T”.

I have a very distinctive last name. In the last month I have written only three people from that particular side of the political spectrum: Gabriel Ash, Noam Chomsky and Keith Locke. Wonder which one was responsible for setting the courageous “T” on to me?

David Irving – the plot thickens

I say, here’s something worth knowing – despite the apparent robust “Get lost arsehole” response to Holocaust denier David Irving’s application to enter New Zealand, things weren’t quite so simple when the issue first popped up. According to this Israe…
