An evil evil regime

April 24th, 2004 at 12:17 am by David Farrar

My first reaction upon reading that a train accident in North Korea had destroyed 1,850 households and killed or injured up to 3,000 people was disbelief mixed with incredible sadness for the families of those affected.

The sadness for the poor families and community involved is still there, but also I have to say a feeling of hatred for that evil regime in charge of the country.

As I read more stories, I found out the first reaction of Kim Jong Il was to cut international phone lines in an effort to prevent news of the explosion from getting out.

What sort of sad, mad fuck cuts phone lines when several thousand of his citizens have been blown up, rather than call out for as much help as you can get?

An excellent non-partisan site about North Korea is http://www.freenorthkorea.net/. Lots of links and information about the appalling conditions in North Korea and the handful people worldwide attempting to do something about it.

Did this action really surprise you? You’re talking about the last of the communist dinosaurs here, more extreme in their application of hardline ideology than either Cuba or China is now.
