Kiwi Cruise Missiles
April 25th, 2004 at 8:25 pm by David FarrarSunday on Tv One had a very good item on Bruce Simpson of Aardvark fame, focusing on how he produced a cruise missile for under $5,000.
It also goes on to tell how the IRD bankrupted Bruce which killed a deal with a US firm to export the tecnology. Seems very short sighted of the IRD as they did not recover all their debt by bankrupting Bruce, and may have if the deal had gone through.
I met Bruce at his home a few years ago and he is a really nice guy. It is a real shame what happened to him.
The new TVNZ website (which isn’t bad) has a story online about Bruce and the missile deal.

While Bruce Simpson came across as a talented, intelligent, and sincere person, there was one glaring fault with the whole story. It is relatively easy to get a pulse/turbo jet to run on a gas – it’s getting it to run on liquid fuels (like kerosene) that is the problem. As the engine depicted on the show was gas powered I doubt its utility as a weapon…

It’s official, sadly. At least for Bruce Simpson, perhaps. Things get murky in certain situations. On the bright side, his Aardvark column still seems to be running, despite the monetary ‘issues’ he’s been having. All the best, Bruce. Shouldn’t have…

Yes, it seems VERY suspicious the way IRD bankrupted him for no apparent reason.
