Coutts sacked!

July 27th, 2004 at 10:36 am by David Farrar

I hope all those who condemned Team NZ for failing to keep Russell Coutts on board, will perhaps reconsider where the fault lay. The sacking of Coutts by Alinghi confirms my perception that the only thing bigger than Coutts skill as a sailor, is his ego.

At the end of the day, sailing is a team sport, and Coutts seemed to have problems with anything less than total control. What a waste of such talent. No doubt he will now sail for some other country.

    Poor old Russell,

Operating on the “always for sale to the highest bidder”

Rumour has it that he is applying for a position in the “A Dinghy” team.
