Pleased to welcome Peter Metcalph to the blogosphere. I’ve known Peter for many years through Usenet newsgroups. He has an incredible knowledge of law, history and politics.

Peter’s post on the Court of Appeal’s ruling on Awatere-Huata is very good, reminding us “The legislation states the decision is a matter for the party leader, not unelected judges.”

I especially like his suggestion that Rodney ignores the court ruling and sends the letter anyway. Now that would be a fun constitutional crisis :-)

    Send the letter anyway ….

    Peter Metcalfe suggests I ignore the Court of Appeal and send a letter to Mr Speaker asking him to fire Donna.

    Nice thought.

    Problem is — Mr Speaker would not accept the letter.
