Aaarrggh
August 28th, 2004 at 11:09 am by David FarrarGood God. 352 e-mails between 11 p.m. last night and 10 a.m. this morning. Some are the catch ups from the outage but lots are bounce messages because some spammer has been using my e-mail address in their from lines.
I’ve been getting hundreds of bounce messages a day for the last week or so and these don’t get caught by Ihug’s spam filter (as technically not spam). However in the last week Ihug have stopped 4,126 spams without as far as I can tell a single false positive.
However I still have 1,000 or so messages in my own junk e-mail filters (combination of Outlook, Nortons and SpamBayes) to look through as they do get some false positives.
You know if a spammer lived nearby me, I think I would be tempted to go postal on him or her. Apart from my e-mail almost becoming unmanageable, I am looking to blow my monthly 1GB Jetsream limit by a massive amount and that is all just by e-mail and a bit of web browsing.

DO you have IHUGS spam set to assassin level? While I don’t get quite as much spam as you, I still get a couple of hundred a day stopped by IHUGs filters, but only a handful a day get through,.
SOunds like you need a enw email address

Yep it is at assassin level. It does a really good job with most stuff. Technically bounce messages from forged spam doesn’t count as spam so no surprise that get through.
I really don’t want to change address. I like my current one and I see it as letting the bastards win if I change. But yeah may have to one day.

Hi anyone,
I have a vial of a particularly virulent strain of Ebola at home. If anyone out there knows of the physical address of any windows virus creators or spammers I’ll be happy to inject them and sit patiently watching them die a horrible slow death, secure in the knowledge that it’s no less than they deserve.
Hello, you reading this. Are you a spammer? Do you sit at home in front of your PC ecking out a sad miserable existence by disrupting the lives of real people who have a real life, unlike you, you sad pathetic geeky sack of shite? Don’t you wish you could just end it all now? Call me, I have a needle waiting for you.

Would be nice if one could get the Ebola to spread amongst spammers, as their spam spreads amongst everyone else.
