Miller makes Cheney look like a ‘girlie man’

I was expecting Dick Cheney’s speech to the RNC Convention to lacerate Kerry, but he was upstaged by a Democratic Senator (Zell Miller) who just brutally decimated Kerry.
Some great Cheney quotes:
“On Iraq, Senator Kerry has disagreed with many of his fellow Democrats. But Senator Kerry’s liveliest disagreement is with himself.”
“Senator Kerry says he sees two Americas. It makes the whole thing mutual” (my favourite)
And from US Democratic Senator, Zell Miller:
“They claimed Carter’s pacifism would lead to peace. They were wrong. They claimed Reagan’s defense buildup would lead to war. They were wrong. And, no pair has been more wrong, more loudly, more often than the two Senators from Massachusetts, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry ”
“I could go on and on and on: against the Patriot Missile that shot down Saddam Hussein (news – web sites)’s scud missiles over Israel; against the Aegis air-defense cruiser; against the Strategic Defense Initiative; against the Trident missile; against, against, against. This is the man who wants to be the Commander in Chief of our U.S. Armed Forces?
U.S. forces armed with what? Spitballs?”
“Twenty years of votes can tell you much more about a man than twenty weeks of campaign rhetoric.”
“For more than 20 years, on every one of the great issues of freedom and security, John Kerry has been more wrong, more weak and more wobbly than any other national figure. ”
I really though Bush would heavily lose this election, but the Democrats seem to have picked the worst possible candidate, and Kerry has let Bush back into the race big time.
UPDATE: The Miller speech was so good, it even coaxed NZ Pundit out from under his rock, to blog his approval.

T’was a great speech all right, although if you don’t care for appallacian twang you might not be so impressed. I sat the 11 year old down to watch it and gave her an impromptu lesson in rhetoric, so loaded was Miller’s speech with demonstrations of epideictic skill and ethos.
Super stuff, this cynical bastard is still pumped up about it. Great to see you were highly impressed as well David.

I heard extracts on the radio and was so blown away by the strength of it, I rushed to listen to the whole thing. It does really pump you up, especially when you consider this is a Demomcratic Senator talking about the leader of his own party.
For those interested you can view the video at http://www.gopconvention.com/rewind/
One can see why candidates get such a big ratings boost from their conventions. I had the opportunity to attend the GOP one but turned it down due to the cost (hotel rooms were US450 a night), but not slightly regretting it.

Spooky… Was this a cunning plot to make Cheney – not exactly the most Oprah-esque of ‘retail’ politicians – look warm and cuddly by comparison?
Still, you have to giggle at the irony of a Democrat delivering the only real rabble-rousing, ‘red in tooth and claw’ partisan slam at the GOP Convention.

Sort of find Mr Cheneys comments a bit hypocritical considering the connections he has with the Halliburton country with the billions of dollars in contract money from the invasion of Iraq which he and his boss orchestrated. The Democratic senator should actually be asking, why was Osama Bin Laden taken from the no 1 position of the most wanted men in the world to no 2. It was Osama who led the devastating attack on New York which cost 3000 lives. Since 9/11 he has been allowed to re-energise, re-organise and continue on his terrorist ways. Now Saddaam was no angel, but hell the WMD he was supposed to have had have still not been found, the invasion of Iraq by the coalition of oilers was based on information supplied by Intelligence agencies, one must ask the question, is Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 running some of the biggest secret agent organisations in the World ?
They cant say they invaded because of the dastardly deeds that Saddaam was doing, or to save a country and its people, because worse is happening in the Sudan, there are millions suffering, problem is, Sudan doesnt have any WMD or any oil resources, and the world watches and waits.
To help save the Sudanese people, we need a couple of top scientists to tell the world, that, because of the oil being taken from the ground and the amount of bombing in the middle east, the axis of the world has changed, and, all the oil that was in the middle east has shifted and is now in the Sudan. Sit, wait and watch as the oil hungry money leaders with connections to companies reaping benefits on the misery of others change their direction and move across to save the refugess in the Sudan.
Most Wanted men in the world:
1. Osama Bin Laden
2. Saddaam Hussein
3. Pol Pot
4. Idi Amin
the list goes on, but because Osama entered american territory and attacked and killed so many people, he should have been hunted down.
To many conflicts of interest and too much lying by world leaders. We need some truth and positive action so we can then travel and enjoy the wondrous sights of this magnificent world in peace and harmony.
