Peachy was a great choice. He has been all up in the media preaching how bad NCEA is and has a great profile.
Its a shame the party faithful didnt pick David Kirk back in the day.
I mean the guy had won the first world cup, was a hero, had a Rhodes, was in a safe National seat.
Had he been picked I think he would still be the Prime Minister.
Hey its never to late as the good Dr Brash proved...

Exciting, wasn't it david? Even more exciting to watch the Tamaki Mafia live in action! A win on the first ballot is a dead give away of a stitch up, continuing the proud traditions of the Tamaki Electorate. Well done Clem.

Many cellphones that support Java will can also blog directly to MT type blogs through their Internet connections.

e.g., Kablog: http://www.kablog.org/

My (work supplied) SE P900 will even take an Infrared keyboard, making it all the easier. Doesn't help with the quality of my postings, but at least geek quotient is maintained.

Being a senior office holder in National more often than not seems to count against you for selection, than help you. Sue Wood as party president failed to get selected - something unthinkable in Labour.

Scott Simpson and Margaret Voyce are in fact by far the longest serving members amongst the candidates.

In Hamilton East however the sucessful candidate was David Bennett who is a board member, so being a senior office holder is not always a death knell :-)

tamaki asserting their independence again then. not the central office man but a longish standing party member. I bet Belinda was looking a bit wistful. She would have been a shoe-in for Tamaki
