Lies, damn lies and …

Police Statistics.

Georgw Hawkins loves to boast the crime resolution rate is at an all time high. Now we know why.

Crimes are being recorded as “resolved” in police statistics without the alleged offender being spoken to, arrested, charged or convicted.

The criminals must love this. “Hey the Police have resolved my crimes in their computer, so I’m off the hook”.

Another way the police manipulate the facts is to turn up to a violent assault and tell the perpetrater to walk home. Problem solved!

The police use of the word ‘solved’ has always been dodgy, I don

I suspect the figures are being massaged by “custody clearances”.

This method of recording clearances is a fraud committed by the Police on the Public. Fraudulent deception now appears endemic throughout the Public Service whether it be Judges who pontificate and sentence a miscreant to say nine years knowing he will serve no more than three or the Health Providers, Educational authorities or even Lotteries Commssion.

David, cases that have been “resolved” by the manner you suggested have been happening for years, its just more common now. Also in this “resolved” category are burglaries that have not been “resolved” where a suspect has been identified but not arrested.
Somebody should be asking the Minister some questions in Parliament over this sort of thing..

    New police lexicon for Crime:

Reported: where you phone to says a crime is in progress, if its allredy happened and the offender has gone its put in a ‘pending’ list which is usually wiped in the communications centre
Attended: only for those actual crimes where police turn up, try to get the victim to come to you or send a taxi so they can get away to think it over
Resolved: buglaries in an area where the usual suspects are responsible but really not sure which one
Solved: Identification of a well known person or finger print evidence matching but nothing further done
Processed: Charged in court but mix up gets charges dropped or they dont turn up to court
Conviction: Convicted by judge but dont do PD time or go to jail and are out after one third time served and ignore parole conditions
