Latest Peron news

March 30th, 2005 at 2:09 pm by David Farrar

NZ Herald story is here. A shorter NZPA story is on Stuff.

Far more details are on gaynz.com (I hate to think what all the links are doing to my google ranking for certain terms :-) including Part 3 of their investigation, and a new editorial which is worth a read.

Yes, the gaynz investigative reporting is of a quality that is seldom reached in this country. Actually it is world class. In depth, all arguments are considered. Top notch!

But so far, no trace of pedophelia.

Yes its a case of “hmmm… those allegations didn’t stick, lets try some others….” At the worst Jim held some extreme views on man boy love interactivities and has been less than honest in saying he held them, and I don’t belive he was the man behind Unbound. Further evidence has come to light to show who was and how they went about it.Jim is trying to piece together events from 20 odd years ago to defend himself, not a task I envy.

Yes, he held some views that were probably not that generalizable. Given his experience, who can blame him for having a slightly different view? And wisdom comes with age.

But these views are not that uncommon. In the autobiography (I think) of Pim Fortuyn, the famous Dutch gay politician who was shot six days before the election by a Greenie who wanted to help the muslims, he describes some similar experiences.

He wasn’t abused, but he describes that what a Dutch soldier did to him at the age of twelve was quite pleasant. So in a sense he almost defended the actions of someone who would be convicted as a pedohile in the court.

But I’m glad that gaynz did this extensive investigation. It would be a murky situation otherwise.

James, you write that further evidence has come to light about who the editor of Unbound was. What is that evidence?

I can’t go into detail yet as we are still putting it together but it is being worked on ,trust me.Jim has tracked down witnesses who new the person Jim is sure was behind Unbound and is meeting with them soon.I can’t spill the beans yet as Jims opponents can then move to cover themselves.Stay tuned!

Trebucket, I’m not saying I agree with lowering the age of consent, but I don’t think it’s wrong to debate it. And that is a far cry from saying we shouldn’t have one.
