Lesley Soper Maiden Speech

New Labour List MP Lesley Soper made her maiden speech on Wednesday. In a few weeks she may be due to do her valedictory!
Kakariki suggests her statement “I stand here as a proud Southern woman, a feminist, a socialist and a trade unionist, committed to Labour Principles and values” was a message for Mr Tamihere. I suspect she is right.

Shit, if that is her politic way of not reinforcing every bad association Tamihere raised then Labour were hell of a sensible to put her so far down the list.
If there is this mythical red-blooded bloke constituency then she just rogered it.
Also, isn’t it interesting that feminist socialist trade unionism is still a Labour Principle. I suppose it’ll take a little longer for the Third Way to make it down South…….

Have you read the 2nd paragraph. She says that if she had it her way ‘maiden’ speech would be replaced with ‘inaugural’ speech! No shit, read it. Why doesn’t Labour just call itself The Extreme Radical Feminist Socialist Trade Unionist Party and be done with it? Or T E R F S T U P?
‘Helen Clark, leader of Terfstup, said today…..’ It doesn’t sound so bad.

Whilst she is changing “maiden speech” to inaugural speech, what will she change “maiden over” to?
What is with the continual “84% of men’s average wage?” Is that for the same hours worked? Is a man working full-time to be paid the same as a woman working full-time, or are men working full time to be paid less than women working full time in order to drive the women’s average up? Sometimes the misuse of statistics just gives me the shits.

i wish Labour was indeed “The Extreme Radical Feminist Socialist Trade Unionist Party”. I should also point out that I am pretty sure that avowed feminist Soper is also pro-life…

pro life is pretty rad for a labour party feminist
