“The Hobbit” Stage Show

April 27th, 2005 at 12:07 pm by David Farrar

I see in the NZ Herald that the Auckland season of The Hobbit stage show has been ditched after low turn-outs.

I am not surprised.

I have not seen the show. I was planning to go with stats girls and other Tolkien fans, as it sounded great. But Wellington’s former Mayor went to see it on opening night and said it was awful, so I checked around and numerous people told me how bad it was, and how people walked out halfway through.

So despite having wanted to see it for some months, even I got put off going. It shows how important good reviews are. Now I’m just going to have to wait for the movie.

If anyone did see it, be keen to hear their comments on what worked and what didn’t.

The Man In The Comfy Chair was going to take me as a surprise but now he quite clearly can’t. Think we’ll go to something at the comedy fest instead, sounds like it’s just as well.
