Capill Publicity

I was interviewed by NewstalkZB last night about blog comments on the Capill case. The item this morning has led to a piece in the Herald.

The Capill case has attracted strong comments, partly because has has already pleaded guilty to some charges, and no-one yet knows how he will plead on these ones.

I certainly accept that if he says he is innocent of these latest charges, he deserves a fair trial. The main thing prejudicing a fair trial won't be blog comments, but the fact almost everyone in NZ knows he has already been found guilty on similar charges. In theory it should be of no influence to a jury, but in reality I think it is inevitable it would have some influence.

Anyway changing topic, what about that verdict? I thought he was going to be acquitted, but it shouldn't take a week to acquit normally. Maybe it will be a hung jury?
