Even MPs are human

August 31st, 2005 at 6:37 am by David Farrar

A sad reminder that MPs can crack under the stress, like anyone else, with John Brogden trying to kill himself last night – obviously as a result of the scandal which forced him from the state leadership. Further allegations have come out also.

A more pleasant reminder of MPs being “normal” was the Holmes interview on Prime last night with Helen Clark and Peter Davis and Don and Je Lan Brash. I thought both couples came across well and talked very naturally about their relationships.

Sadly this reinforces the view that this individual is quite unsuitable to be a party leader. He gives all the impression of being a very spoilt immature person, but he is going through a difficult time obviously.

Pleased to hear that Helen likes to reheat old cups of tea. I doubt we’ll hear any more about corned beef sandwiches from the left now.

People can be cruel in politics and excuse it. I don’t understand how some people can hound a person in the attempt to destroy them. They lack common human decency. When things like this happen I wish those who push the person twice as much misery as they cause.
