We are all New Zealanders
August 29th, 2005 at 5:07 pm by David FarrarNational spelt out its view of New Zealand today being that the Treaty did not create a partnership but was the launching pad for the creation of one sovereign nation with many peoples.
Specific pledges are:
* Make membership of the Waitanagi Tribunal a full-time, not part-time, job so hearings can be acclerated
* Increase capacity of the Office of Treaty Settlements
* Appointing a number of specialist direct negotiators to work with claimant groups
* Removal of references to the “Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi” from 39 statutes with priority being the RMA and the Local Government Electoral Act
* Review the five specialist Maori agencies

David, I invite you to read, and respond to, the article by Jon Johansson which I blog about here: http://blog.greens.org.nz/index.php/2005/08/29/teaching-illusion/

I love this policy, although other race and gender-based agencies need to go too.
It’s almost as good as the bout of irrationalism it brings about by the left-wing. How funding on need/merit is racist I have no idea!
Taking a pragmatic approach, and a practical example, you could put a case there would more money for public services after removing duplication and waste on those undeserving (‘rewarded’ purely on racial grounds). In other words needy people may be better off.
Strange for the left to encouraging a class based system, and not taking an opportunity to better use funds towards the needy not those of a particular hue.

Jon Johansson is a blinkered partisan hack.
He has less value speaking on politicals than Keith Locke on defence.

I think Don Brash should flash his winning warm smile everywhere. Saw it tonight when he jumped when that balloon went off end then he gave his warm smile. The TV clip could not have been better. And then all that stuff about BRD with her trying to make something about that. Nothing from Labour at all, nothing except her awkward smile and then flash Don gave his winning smile AGAIN!!!

Control yourself Tim!!
You sound like those ACT supporters who drool over Heather Roy!
Vote:Must check the news tonight though. Which channel?
I have actually met the PM and in real life she comes across much better than she appears on telly, but Don does seem more human.
I know who I would rather share a pint with.
Let’s hope the nation can warm to Don and a National-led government.
One with a few friends from ACT in there too.

It looked like a flinch to me. Maybe it (ie the bang) was the Taniwha making a point.
Actually can someone answer me this, because I’m curious.
What is the difference between a Maori tribe having concerns about a road going through an area they consider spiritually significant and members of a Christian Church opposing plans by a local authority to put an arterial road through their place of worship?

Frog just why do people like you feel so superior to a person of colour like me? Get your fix of white guilt somewhere else. People like you and Johansson are just shit scared that you will lose some-one to feel superior to. Well as a black person that grew up under a colonial system I know what is needed, I lived it you did not. I own plenty of property in NZ and overseas freehold not because some whitey kept handing it to me in dribs and drabs while calling me brother, but despite the fact that they tried. I am reminded of the monty python line when I read people like you, johansson and the phule: I bare my buttocks in your general direction (pathetic suck ups) Get it into your stupid heads, you are not black, we are! Treating me different is simply trying to bond and enslave me to you.
Well here is a bit of news for you you green twit. I will survive in the bush longer than you and I have shown myself to be better than you in your world as well.

Randominanity – not a proper comparison.
The proper comparison would be between a church and a marae – both are actual structures.
An equivalent comparison for the taniwha would be if a priest claimed that the holy spirit lived in a swamp and hence no road could be allowed through it.
Vote:August 29th, 2005 at 7:23 pm
I find this obsession with mythical beasts quite strange when she has total contempt for christian tradition. Just do not think the Labour Party understand what message a reference to the taniwha is sending to conservative christian New Zealanders. But to me is suggests that Labour put more emphasis on a mythical beast than christian values when she pointedly refused grace at a state function when she entertained the Head of the Anglican church (the Queen).

Actually David I think an equivalent comparison would be a claim that fairies lived in the path of the road would be closer.
Now if people want to claim thats unfair because of some peoples personal beliefs I’d point out that many people do indeed believe in fairies.
Mythological creature = mythological creature.
Not mythological greature = oh my god their trying to destroy our entire way of life! Wont somebody please think of the children???

Never mind Murray, you have not heard of dog whistle politics. Good. But the subliminal message is Labour cares more about a mythical beast than christian values (i.e. no grace at a state function with the head of the Anglican church), this will not be lost on some voters. (Watch her snap back I am not divorced comment or Peter and I have been married 25 years – that is her attempt at dog whistle politics).

They may still be “married” Tim but a quick look though spouse travel costs will show she never takes him anywhere for some reason.

good grief murray..he works in christchurch…she works in wellington and wherever…they live in auckland…no i guess they would catch different planes wouldn’t they..
you really are getting desperate aren’t you..
and ..vanzyl..start taking the medication again..you’re frothing…and it’s only going to get worse for you and your lot…it’s trainwreck time for the right..(will national ever recover..?..that is the next question really..eh..?)

When you calm down Phil, you might start thinking rationally. Murray was right – they don’t go ANYWHERE together. Even working in different cities doesn’t stop a real husband & wife going on holiday together.
Face it Phil, not every fairy tale ends with the couple living happily ever after (together).
Vote:August 29th, 2005 at 8:42 pm
the phule cannot be calm, his drug addled little racist brain is so fried it on has two modes, off and snide.
Vote:August 29th, 2005 at 8:54 pm
phil you wouldn’t know desperate if it smacked you upside the head with copy of the little red book and stole your bong.
The lowest by a long mile of spousal travel expenses. Given the distance more would be expected not less.
Not exactly a close relationship is it.
Do you want to change feet now or just pretend your clever because your mum says so?

Well, the first actually happened, the second is hypothetical…the only analogous cases I can think of are the motorways into Wellington and central Auckland. Both went through cemetaries.
some bodies were moved, i gather – and so was at least one church.
No-one got held to ransom.
And on the Davis-Clark marriage – so fucking what? It’s their business.
I’m no Labour supporter, but this shit really turns my stomach.
And they do travel together, BTW – Jane Clifton has a marvellous description of Davis looking like a teddy bear being dragged downstairs by a determined toddler.
Not at all unusual for top politicians to spend a lot of time away from spouses etc – Churchill being perhaps the best historic example. It’s an unnatural lifestyle.
By all means, have a go at policies, motocades, paintergate etc.I’ll probalby join in. Innnuendo about the dynamics of someone’s marriage though is beneath contempt.

Well, that’s a change!
Vote:National was the best friend Maori ever had!
More money was handed out, and more Race based laws were introduced under National than any other govt in NZ history!
Why is there now a falling out now between National & Maori?
I bet Maori are scratching their heads and thinking what went wrong? I think the best thing that could happen is for Maori & National to rub noses & make up.

Actually phil, Professor davis now is based in Auckland, he’s HoD of the Sociology Dept and works at Population Health on the tamaki Campus as well.
They do travel together, and also apart. They are both busy professionals with careers to follow. Hardly unusual for a politician.
