Saw this link off someone’s blog but can’t recall whom. They were amused at someone promising 15% tax rate and universal student allowances 
Anyway Liz Shaw is a Young National. She has also been on some reality TV shows. But I have to confess I had never heard of her until I read her website.
However it seems as well as being on NZ Idol, she was also looking to film a porn film with Ron Jeremy!

initially, I found all things “liz shaw” very amusing, but after some thought have realised she’s a very screwed up creature, and the constant attention she is receiving is only fuelling her and making things worse.
I know this sounds very self-righteous (I have blogged about her in the past so am just as guilty), but please people, think before you pass judgement, as she really isn’t a very well girl at all.

Liz Shaw’s fame reminds me somewhat of Madeleine Richards hysteria at Waikato that spread around the campuses, though admittedly as close as Madeleine got to porn shots was her Nexus front cover shots of her in a mini and the three page story on how hot her legs are and the follow up story in Chaff and the TV documentary on her and all that hoo ha. But that is where the comparison ends, Madeleine may be polarising at times but she is sane, she is no attention seeking Liz Shaw.

Liz is the same age as me, and I have to say leads a lifestyle very different to my own. But I have a lot of respect for some of the things she as done, for whatever her reasons may be, she will at least have some interesting stories to tell, and it seems to me in the end she has gotten what she wants out of all of this and people are falling allover themselves to talk about her, even to the point of imatating her. So even though you may not agree with her I think it is time that people stopped insulting her apprearance and her state of mind, if you have to have anything to say about her at all then let it be about her policies and politics, because at least she has some beliefs.

I don’t actually regret anything that I’ve done in the past. The only thing I regret is that we live in a society where people can’t accept that not everyone is the same, and that not everyone conforms to societal expectations or stereotypes.

I’m interested in only one thing about Liz’s views – reconciling the idea of starring in a porn film with that of recriminalizing prostitution. Who would the porn stars be? Would it be criminal to make the porn, but legal to watch it? Sounds almost as sensible as our old prostitution laws wherein it was not legal to offer sex for money, but perfectly fine to offer money for sex. Perhaps I’m missing something and there’s been a change of heart on one or other of these fairly closed tied industries.

The two aren’t identical. I wasn’t really asking about nudey pics. That isn’t exactly what Ron Jeremy would be called in for. I was meaning getting paid to have sex on film, which would seem to be a subset of prostitution.
But as a subset, porn movies are in many ways more degrading to the subject, which would seem to be the only argument against prostitution. They are seen by a wider audience, usually. And they are ‘bareback’ more frequently than prostitutes would be, and usually enticed to go a lot further than just quick straight sex.
On the flipside, porn could be more controlled. Stars can have more power and money than poor students selling their services to old gents. And they are fewer. Possibly they are the kind of folks that really like their work, which doesn’t seem wrong to me.
That said, it seems to me that most of the arguments used against legalizing prostitution apply against legalizing porn production in spades.
Hey, I’m just trying to resolve the apparent contradiction. Perhaps it’s all just silliness, perhaps not.

There was a famous italian MP who was a pornstar, so it’s not a guarantee of an end to public life. But she was a *famous* pornstar. Had been in a lot of movies doing a lot of freaky stuff, and had all the ‘beauty enhancements’ common to the business. Her fan club alone would have got her into parliament. There was ‘gritty realism’ in her views. I don’t think talking about being in a porn film is in the same league. That’s got all the authenticity of George Bush dressing up in a military uniform.

Sometimes I think it would be so much easier if I didn’t care what people think. Then I wouldn’t spend countless hours defending myself.
On the matter of prostitution, yes it is the oldest profession. And I’m going to be honest here, maybe it will create more controversy. I have come very close to prostitution in the past when money has been tight (you see I don’t agree with getting assistance from teh government) but then it has clashed with my morals (yes I do have morals) and I haven’t been able to.
In a weird and twisted way I did the photo shoot because I can’t take money for nothing. It was lucky it came up at that particular time – I got fired 2 days before I was supposed to film

I have stated my reasons for doing that photo shoot time and time again and nobody seems to get teh point I am trying to make. I wanted to see what the industry was like. I wanted to overcome body issues, I wanted to see that I could do that. In a way, it was a challenge for me.

I can understand your considering prostitution as a poor student. Hell I considered it myself, but that was in the pre-viagra days so I probably got a lucky break there. And a nudey shoot is totally forgiveable, if perhaps a little foolish for someone considering public life. I bet the money wasn’t worth the hassles from your future colleagues. But I’m sure you learned something.
I do wonder why you think that supporting students financially wouldn’t be a better way of keeping them out of being prostitutes? I make the assumption, from your statement of feeling that taking money for ‘nothing’ is immoral. I don’t think improving your mind is doing ‘nothing’. It’s arguably more valuable to society than prostitution.
Did you want to answer the question about the moral difference between making porn and being a prostitute? Or do you now (that you aren’t such a poor student), not agree with either industry?
I understand totally that views can change with circumstances. Mine have – I’ve roved from socialist to neoliberal to centre right to centre left and now I’ve almost completed the coverage by voting Green. I like to think there was a common thread of being ’socially liberal and economically undecided’. Which meant I was neoliberal, only as long as they were socially liberal, and prepared to give their economics at try. When they started their (with hindsight) inevitable slide to social conservatism (which in the current climate means non-liberal), they lost me. As have the Nats. NZ First has naturally never appealed.
Of course, in political life that’s called flip-flopping, which is why I’ll never be a politician.

Someone posted them on NZG. I am still quite proud of them, although there was some controversy later down in that thead. Some haters suggested that I should have wiped my ass before the shoot. I mean I really don’t have a lot of experience in modelling, hell, I didn’t even know my ass would be on the photos. Also, I don’t like using toilet paper because it gives me a rash and hurts my hemorrhoids. Anyway, what do you think of the pictures?

I saw the links, yes. The pics were not of the quality of Playboy, and more risque. Kind of what you’d expect in a trial for porn photoshoot. What I thought was that you’d probably regret having done it, unless the process really turned you on somehow.
As for me, I’m not a poor student anymore. I don’t need the money. And whilst being in a porn film might have seemed like a good idea when I was younger, it just seems bad now. What good could come of it? Having someone filming me having sex is not the same thing as the fantasy portrayed in the porn itself, which is typically of a private erotic moment.
I’d need to be a very different kind of guy to do it. A real exhibitionist, a real hound. I’d also need to be not married and in love with my wife. Liz is surely more welcome in ACT than National, if ACT is really serious about being ‘liberal’. But the disappearance of Roger Douglas and Prebble from it have led to it swinging to it’s more natural position as ‘hyper-National’. Which has of course led to it’s demise, since there’s no room over in National’s corner of the graph. ACT occupied a unique position for a while. But I could see the writing on the wall long ago, especially when I tried to explain it to Australians. They just said ‘Hah, we’ll see how long their social ideals hold out once Big Business makes ACT their flagship party’. Perceptive, those ozzies. I don’t know who is in ACTs old corner now – it’s inherently an unstable spot because anyone who fixes position around an economic policy will surely be laid low by it at some point.

I hope you’re not talking about my views, Liz. I don’t look up to Ron Jeremy except in so far as being a guy who knows what he wants and does it. I sure don’t want to do that (act in films), although I can appreciate the fantasy he is portraying. Part of his success is that he is so normal looking that it’s easy for guys to imagine themselves being him.

Your point about the notoriety you’ve gained from the photoshoot is perfectly valid, in some ways. You’ve brought yourself to many people’s attention. I still can’t say I know what your opinions are, other than you’re ‘right’. Nor can I say that having heard that you did a photoshoot gives me particularly more interest in your opinions – we’re more interested in your state of mind, because it’s such an unusual thing for someone in NZ who wants people to respect them to do.
Of course the other interest most people take is in what you look like naked. Which of course they can find out easily. Not much left to the imagination. It’s not there as a mystery anymore, so it may well become old news fast, like old porno dates fast. If you’d at least started with some ‘artful’ shots, rather than just straight lewd ones, you’d still have a crack at keeping the interest up. Like Madonna, for instance. But those kinds are centrefolds are highly competitive, every fame seeking pretty girl with big tits goes for that. NZX is more of a mag for local prostitutes to up their profile than a launching pad for international stardom like Playboy would be. Just my opinion based on a mate of mine who photoed his girlfriend for it – she was a prostitute, and her main reason to go for it was to get more customers. It seemed like most of the others in there were cut from the same cloth, but who can tell, maybe they just needed the money.
Hence my skepticism that the photoshoot did you any long term good, career wise.

It’s putting words in my mouth to say I look down on prostitutes. Society looks down on them, not me.
I do have to say I don’t particularly like them though. Just as men see them as objects, they see men as objects. Little piggy banks. It’s not something I like to be seen as, particularly by people attempting to solicit sex from me. They’re offering something that could easily be free and better if there were feelings involved. Not all rushed and sanitary and sordid.
It’s about how I see myself, and what value I have. I’m not just a wallet, I’m a human being too. When doing something as deeply personal as having sex it’s nice to be treated that way.
Porn is quite different, of course, since that is pure fantasy. It is very common to have fantasies about things you would never do, particularly dangerous or illegal things. In many ways porn is an outlet for those kinds of urges. We are strict here on exactly what kinds of things may be represented, but countries with no restrictions don’t seem to have particularly worse statistics for sexual crimes – Japan for example.
Disliking prostitutes doesn’t mean I look down on them. I recognize that they fulfil a need in society. So do garbage collectors. I just don’t see the role as especially praiseworthy, and I think it leads to attitudes that I don’t find friendly.

The posts made under my name this afternoon were not made by me.
It is pointless trying to post here because nobody is going to know which is me and which isn’t. This means that it will look like I’ve made ridiculous posts when really it is my impersonator.
I have a migraine now and i need to lie down.
Just for the record: I am not just on the varsity forum, there are other forums that I am on, but to disclose them would be to open a can of worms, not something I want to do, so I continue to post there in peace.

Paul…Madds never said a word at the time nor gave me any indication she was soooooo offended.I was just taking the piss out of her really and she hates that.She’s just useing it as an attempt to silence me.I called her bluff because shes a fool and its so tame its funny!She tried this before (witnessed by DPF)on the free students network and was laughed at by both male and female posters there.She even announced to everyone there that her husband Matt had “never mastubated in his life..” a reference to my having referred to them as wankers a few mounths before.Madds just came out with this to the bewilderment of everyone there so you can see what kind of loony tune she is…:-)Whats really behind this is that Jim Peron is my friend and I defend him when he is attacked.Madds needs me silenced so thats the motive behind all this.And she claims shes a Christian…go figure!

This is really getting creepy. I haven’t made that post about my migraine. How did that impersonator know that I suffer from migraine? Either there is an impersonator that knows me very well or I do have a split personality.
Fact is that my migraine is not getting better and I couldn’t sleep. I know it is pointless for me to post in this situation, but I had to get up, I was feeling very bloated. In the past week I have become quite infamous around my flatmates for constantly passing wind, but I really can’t help it.
Sometimes it feels to me like this all getting too much for me, to the point where I am no longer sure what I have posted and what some impersonator has posted in my name. Am losing my mind? The people who know me know I had mental issues in the past. I was so sure I have left them behind.
Has anyone here studied psychology?
