Conservative Party Research

I mentioned last week a presentation of some fascinating research on presented to a breakfast meeting at the Tory Party conference. I've now got a copy of the presentation from The Bow Group. Not going to stick all 24 slides up, but just a few which I think are fascinating.

shows that (the big Tory bogey) is only No 8 issue for voters, and in fact is now ahead on that issue. Also note how far ahead Labour is on the economy – the traditional strength for the right.

You can see here the problem for the Conservative Party – they are seen near the extreme at +52, while Labour is at -25 and Blair actually manages to be closest to the public average at +4.

This pictorial representation of brand values, shows that Labour has the more popular brand attributes.

However not all gloom and doom. On core values, much of the electorate agree with the centre-right. It is the party, not the core values that are damaged.
