Death of McCully – film at 10 pm

NZPA have a story about how some MPs want Don Brash to dump Murray McCully as a key advisor.

This reminds me of the old quote “End of world predicted – film at ten pm” which highlighted how often the end of the world was predicted.

Likewise this is around the tenth time I can recall predictions or speculation about Murray. Going off memory, others were:

* After 1993 election
* After 1996 election
* After Shipley became Leader
* After Tourism Board issue
* After 1999 election
* After English became Leader
* After 2002 election
* After Brash election
* After 2005 election

I’m serious. I recall people in 1999 saying the he was finished and would be retiring in 2002.

So this story is nothing new or unusual.
