It’s Cameron vs Davis

October 21st, 2005 at 9:34 pm by David Farrar

The final round of MP voting saw David Cameron gain 34 votes from 56 to 90. Liam Fox also increased nine from 42 to 51. Davis however retained enough support to make the membership vote, dropping 5 from 62 to 57.

A poll shows Cameron likely to get 75% of the members vote, so unless Cameron does something incredibly stupid, or a scandal engulfs him, he will become the next leader. Ladbrookes have him at 16-1 on.

What scandal could take Cameron down, because it looks like the whole attempt to paint him as a baby-faced cokehead – the kind of allegations that once would have been fatal for any Tory frontbencher – blewback horribly on the tabs and his opponents. Perhaps Kate Moss should quit the modeling lark and become one of ‘Dave’s Babes’. ;)

Well my preference for Fox looks likely to be unfulfilled. Still good to see he did well on the whole. Anyone know what Cameron is like? I mean, is he an actual Conservative, or one of those Tory one nation guys?

I am sure if he had a drug habit it would find its way into the public domain, it has to, he could not be PM. But it has not and Davis’s attempt to paint him this way is back firing. Davis represents the nasty wing of the conservative party and it now looks there is time for a change. I note it has been 30 years!!! since Margatet Thatcher became leader of the conservative party, it is time for the modern conservative party.
