Generation XY
December 29th, 2005 at 8:21 am by David FarrarGeneration XY is fast becoming a must read. Their top ten list of things Aaran Bhatnagar now does instead of blogging is just the right amount of satire, without being harsh.
But his fake Ralph covers are hilarious. In response to the Whig’s request for Hayley Westenra to appear in Ralph, the cover below was produced.

The inside story titles are very funny also. Especially the revelation that Cadmus is Darren Hughes

The day before a Kate Hawkesby unwrapped mock cover was produced. Nice photo-shopping (I’m presuming that isn’t really Ms Hawkesby!).

I knew that would tickle your fancy DPF. Who are these sub-human bloggers who have no understanding of taste, decency and respect for women?

I had to chuckle over items 4, 5 and 8 – all of the posts are very clever though.
“Cadmus is Darren Hughes” brought the biggest laugh though.

Well, as the website says, there is a warning recommending a male audience and it also says pooftas can bugger off!
Don’t you worry, though. Sheila is putting together one for the females as we speak!

Poor AJ. All that outrage and sanctimony. Perhaps you should give up the internet AJ -there’s nowt much but controversy on it.

Got to love it how someone who respects a woman, and can actually control themselves is called a poofter!
“Better is he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city” – Proverbs 16:32
The weak poofter of a man is he who allows himself to be ruled by his sinful nature. The mighty man is he who transcends his flesh and is ruled by his spirit.

“Who are these sub-human bloggers who have no understanding of taste, decency and respect for women?”
Vote:The funny ones, mate. Anyway, your own concept of respect for women has taken a fair hammering in various comments sections, not least from women themselves,so be wary of rushing to judgement.

Your lack of consideration in such matters highlight the problems we face when our country is run by a bunch of reprobates.
Vote:December 29th, 2005 at 6:23 pm
AJ, precisely how will not being able to laugh at ourselves, or imposing censorship and repression on bikini and fast car magazines remove the reprobates in power?
I note at your link here:
http://agrichristian.blogspot.com/2005/09/tolerant-fundamentalist_14.html
you make a plea for tolerance. Quid pro quo, AJ. How about tolerating magazines like Ralph and/or the photoshop jobbie above?

A (real) female opinion: I think it’s funny.
And I’m looking forward to Kiwi Sheila’s version.
AJ, we women can stick up for ourselves ya know. If I found it offensive I’d say so and have a good go. But I don’t.
Also, quoting scripture at people who are not Christians and being all holier than thou doesn’t work so quit it please.
Vote:December 29th, 2005 at 7:42 pm
I think it’s funny, too.
AJ, what exactly offends you? Is it the pictures or the text? Or both?
Vote:December 29th, 2005 at 7:58 pm
I suspect its because Hayley, the petite Christian songstress is being seen as a sexy young woman instead of the instrument of a supreme being.
Vote:December 29th, 2005 at 8:07 pm
Ahhh, thank you, Aaron for explaining.

Tolerating people is a lot different to tolerating activities, or tolerating filth like Ralph or the Gen XY blog. Just because I’d like you to quit being insolent pricks doesn’t mean I want to get rid of you altogether (although a Judeo-Christian polity does allow for such measures).
If you’re wondering why I’m so pissed off it’s because Westenra is a symbol of hope in an age of artistic darkness, and now these bastards want to drag her down as well.

AJ…everything that happens is Gods will no?….so chill out fundie, the Lords on the job!
Vote:December 30th, 2005 at 7:06 am
AJ, if you think Ralph or Gen XY is “filth”, then I suggest you don’t get out very much. Hayley is a lovely voice, but I suggest you back off on the idolatry that she is “a symbol of hope in an age of artistic darkness” – thou shalt not worship any golden calves and all that.
Vote:December 30th, 2005 at 7:12 am
Did you ever stop to think that the fact I enjoy firing up might also be The Lord’s will James? Aaron, I’d suggest I have had a far broader exposure to the spectrum of taste and decency than yourself, if you don’t think Ralph is on the trashy end of the continuum.
Vote:December 30th, 2005 at 8:54 am
AJ – I doubt that very much. Ralph is trashy, but not obscene. I have never bought a copy myself, and probably never will. But the copies I have seen look pretty harmless, even if some of the photos show scantily clad women with large bosoms in suggestive poses.
People who like Ralph do not deserve “eradication” as you seem to think is acceptable for people who don’t fit in with your idea of judeo-christian behaviour.
Vote:December 30th, 2005 at 8:55 am
I’d just like to say that I don’t think Hayley is a symbol of hope. Not at all.
She’s a sell out. And a shit singer. I have friends who are much better singers, who have worked a lot harder and much more deserving of her celebrity status.
They’ll get it too, and we’ll all laugh. It’ll be great.

James-
Sorry, but you are wrong (not “everything that happens is God’s will”). We each still have free will and freedom to choose between right and wrong.
As alien as the concept sounds, YOU are responsible for your own actions.

Maria! – that’s not a very Christian sentiment!
Please don’t tell me our ‘ayley has committed the ultimate sellout though…crooning with Uncle Howie (Morrison)…please say it isn’t so!

maria von trapp-
Your friends MAY well be better singers than Hayley, so why have they been such comparable failures?
Are they lazy? Look like dogs? Halitosis? Hang around in the wrong circles? Big bums? Did Hayley sleep her way to the top?….tell us WHY you think your talented friends haven’t made it.
Vote:December 30th, 2005 at 10:01 am
I love the cover and think it’s a hoot! I just wish I had the hot bod’too.
As for virginal Hayley and her musical ‘talent’, let’s just say I would rather listen to a continous soundtrack of duelling banjoes and yodelling. Same goes for her evil twin, the wretched ‘Yulia’whose album has also sold by the truckload. Just goes to show that mddle NZ is more ‘Kath and Kim’ in their tastes than they would ever admit to.
AJ – the Bible, especially the Torah (Old Testament) is not anti-sex as you make it out to be. Prudish Christians have censored, deleted, re-written and sanitised huge tracts of the Torah as it was seen as sexually permissive. No wonder a number of Christians have such screwy ideas about sex, when it has more to do with human neuroses than earthy Biblical writing. In fact, the Prebyterian Church eradicated the ‘Song of Solomon’ out of their official prayerbook as it was seen as way too saucy. Apparently there are moves in the Church to get it reinstated as it is seen as an erotic poem rather than Judaic filth.
Vote:December 30th, 2005 at 10:20 am
Christianity is not anti-sex, it is pro-sex in the right context. Songs of Solomon is a beautiful book of poetry in which one can appreciate the beauty of sexuality. That is quite different to imposing a mostly naked body on the innocent person of Hayley Westenra.
It’s all about taste honey, a concept our age seems to have forgotten about.
Vote:December 30th, 2005 at 10:37 am
AJ – just out of interest how do you know Hayley is innocent? I mean people used to call Charlotte Church an angel and she’s no innocent. Do you know for a fact Hayley is “innocent” or are you judging her off the marketing profile she has?
For all we know she likes nothing better than playing hide the sausage with her boyfriend?
Vote:December 30th, 2005 at 11:04 am
I really like Hayley Westenra. I’ve been to a concert and have 2 of her cd’s. I think she is pretty and talented. Her singing voice is lovely.
Sally – strangely enough then, we were allowed to have a reading from Song of Solomon at our Presbyterian church wedding. No mention was made of it being inappropriate.
Vote:December 30th, 2005 at 11:10 am
biopic – no not at all actually. one has a gig with kiri te kanawa in march. I suppose you could call that making it
basically, hayley sings everything too fast (highlighting poor technique and breath control) and can’t sing in many languages. she’s crap.
Vote:December 30th, 2005 at 11:20 am
Chaucey Ellis – I am glad you were able to get the ‘Song of Solomon’ as part of your wedding ceremony but I can assure you it is a very recent re-entry into the Presbyterian Church.
Rabbi Michael Abraham (Wellington) helped oversee a PhD from a Presbyterian student from Otago Uni who was persuading the Church to include various bits of the Torah back into the
liturgy and include it in the new version of the Presbyterian prayerbook – including the ‘ Song of Solomon’ which had been erased on the grounds of its eroticism. This development was in the late 90s. The PhD student spoke to our Jewish congregation about how mainstream Protestant churches eg Anglicans and Presbyterians as well as the Catholics were slowly recognising they had thrown out the baby with the bath water in being overly puritanical about the Torah as well as not acknowledging the amount of strong Jewish ritual, liturgy and tradition that stemmed from the Mother Faith – Judaism.
I understand from my Presbyterian mother in law that many former acknowlegements and parts of the Torah, formerly banned, are now included in the updated version of the Presbyterian prayerbook.
