MPs should butt out

The foreign affairs select committee has cosidered a petition urging the Government to push for the marbles’ return and has recommended: “That the Government ask the British Government to consider sympathetically the generous Greek offer of joint ownership of the marbles to facilitate their return to Athens.”

I’m sorry, but regardless of receiving a petition, don’t our MPs have better uses for their time than offering their views on an issue which has nothing to do with them or New Zealand.

Will they next be offering their advice to Greece and Turkey on Cyprus?

The response to the petition should be “The NZ Parliament does not have a view on this issue”
