And it was really good too. Shame on those (e.g. National Party) who slag off Maori Television. It has more “Pakeha” TV than TVNZ does!

Well I’m National Party, but I thought that Maori TV did an outstanding job on ANZAC Day coverage as well. But the competency of the camera crew and programmers clearly had little to do with its difficult gestation under a number of CEOs (one a fraudster) and the fact that Maori TV’s planners made the debatable decision of broadcasting through Sky rather than a more easily accessible frequency.
Those decisions were rightly criticised by more than just National at the time.

Maori Television deserves a huge round of applause. They put together a entire day’s worth of brilliant public broadcasting that was incredible extensive in its covergae, both historically and geographically. It was a truely professional and seemless broadcast. It had a distinctly New Zealand character to it, and was noticeably different in tone to anything other broadcasters might have done.

My only criticism, and I’m being very picky here, was that some of the shot selection at the various remembrance ceremonys in New Zealand were obviously only achieved by having cameras in positions that must have been very obtrusive to those at the ceremony. It appeared at times as though the cameras were amongst the guards of honour, literally standing alongside buglers.

That said, the programme was informative, emotive and largely respectful. There were times when I was both laughing and crying.

At the end of the days viewing, I felt I had witnessed true public broadcasting in action. There was a real sense that the channel had decided that the day was of such importance that any commercial imperatives were ignored.

Kia ora everyone.
Talk about a long day started at 0400hrs (drawn service at 0530 follow by the gunfire breakfast at 0630)this morning at the Airmen’s Club here at RAAF Amberly QLD, OZ.
Being the President of the Airmen’s Club I would like to thank the National Party and the Labour Party for runing down the NZDF. As we had alot of exKiwi’s drinking Tui’s(500ml cans), Mac’s beer and DB Export beers at $2.50 each here at the bar. We would have more over the bar if i was able to sell Lion Red, Speight’s and CD but Lion won’t export it to OZ assholes.
Had the CAF and the WOFF of the RAAF here last week we had to explain why we had the NZ Flag in the Bar/Mess because of us expats over here a very funny remark was made the BARO and someone else why the NZ flag was up. But we had a good day by all about 2.5k? over the bar when we close at 0900 and move over to SNCO’s mess for 2up etc.
By the way i’m looking for some drinking parters for a sunday sesson at Wellington in the afternoon on the 31May06 starting at the Back Bench Bar/ whatever fuck its called across from the Beehive.
