Auckland Carpark vs Invercargill House

April 29th, 2006 at 7:03 am by David Farrar

The NZ Heralds reports how a carpark in Auckland now costs more than a house in Invercargill.

I’m not sure which city this reflects worse on :-)

Invercargill of course David. The place is a dud and is the way the Labour Party wants New Zealand.

    Dear David

If you ever going to make PM you must brush up a little. Whos and whoms seem to have subsided but we just can’t have ‘city this reflects worse on.’ Please try ‘on which city this reflects worse.’

It’s a close call but I’d lean towards Invergiggle if forced to live in either of those two places.

Neither for me but Invercargil has the best weather and the Mayor has a nice smile.

And what is more strange is that carparks in Invercargill are as big as houses in Auckland.

Affordable housing, zero fees for polytech students, generally excellent facilities and services (including plenty of parking), long summer evenings, proximity to some of the best scenery in the country, close to Queenstown, no traffic, no stress, good flight connections with the rest of the country, a mayor who is actually doing something positive for the place (now that he is off the roads)…yeah Invercargill is hell. I’m guessing that you haven’t been there in years Tim…or perhaps you saw it on TV once and that made you an expert. Incidentally Southland’s two MPs are National’s Eric Roy and Bill English…

    $78,000 for a carpark

That’s right. A carpark in central Auckland sold for $78,000.About the same price as a reasonable house in Invercargill.Fortunately I get a free car park at work.Hat Tip: David Farrar…
