New Governor-General

Congratulations to Anand Satyanand who has just been announced as the next Governor-General of New Zealand.

Judge Satyanand is a former District Court Judge and Ombudsman. I know many people who dealt with him in the latter role and have only heard very good things about him.

There are two firsts with this appointment. He is the first Governor-General of Asian descent. He will also be the first male Governor-General who has not and will not be knighted.
