England Local Body Elections

UK Labour has had its worst performance in English local body elections in over 20 years. They came third with 26% of the vote, Lib Dems had 27% and the Conservatives got 40%. David Cameron will be a very happy man.

The Conservatives won an extra 316 Council seats and now control 68 local Councils compared to 29 for Labour.

The Lib Dems made no progress at all, picking up only two extra seats.

Tony Blair has responded with a huge re-shuffle.
