Saddam shown Southpark Movie
August 29th, 2006 at 4:40 pm by David FarrarOh now this is just perfect. The infamous Southpark movie showed Saddam Hussein and Satan planning to take over the world, and also incidentiallly being homosexual lovers until Satan drops Saddam for not being sensitive enough.
It seems the Marines guarding Saddam have been showing him the movie – repeatedly. Absolutely priceless.

Throw in Baseketball just to be malicious.

David you are one sad patheic immoral human being . Who has no sense of any common decency !
Vote:August 29th, 2006 at 9:55 pm
What you rather they do to him Pauline…what common decency would you have the marines show to him? At least they aren’t dissolving him feet first in acid, or administering electricity to his testicles…maybe you should read “In the shadow of Sadam” by former Saddam double Mikhail Ramadan…maybe you should talk to an actual Iraqi or Persia rather than pontificating from your splendid isolation of Invercargill…

Oh gee pauline, do you have no sense of humour? Perhaps I should lend you my copy of the doco Saddam to help you gain a sense of proportion … and yes it is aweful and brutal, but that was how the bastard was.
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 5:12 am
like they said pauline.
Saddam is one of the most evil bastards on the planet. This is a man who has murdered millions, gassed entire villages, had his palaces install rape rooms and there is ample evidence of him and his evil spawn torturing and killing innocent people for fun.
assuming you are more a wishy washy person, he also had the marshes drained and thereby destroyed a priceless ecological heritage so his soldiers could attack and try and exterminate the marsh arabs who opposed his regime too.
and you worry about him being made to watch a movie?
Hell, I wish the soldiers who pulled him out of his hole had simply strung him up – the mussolini approach to popular justice.

Pauline – you are just too funny for words. You should do standup comedy more often.
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 8:23 am
It was a while ago now that I went to Catholic School and I regret I forget the exact words. But didn’t God say that he would judge man based on his treatment towards the lowliest creature he created.
And didn’t Mark Twain say something similar, in relation to how a society should be judged; that is; on how its lowliest elements are treated?
Well, I am unsure if there is anyone commenting here with intellect enough to understand this, but I am sure a few will read and agree.
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 8:54 am
Of course the question no one has asked is whether Saddam actually finds it funny anyway?

Saddam Hussein
South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut
1999
I doubt the story is true – the article linked to is pretty unconvincing. And I don’t think Hussein speaks English so the finer points of the dialogue (see above) would probably be lost on him.
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 9:20 am
I don’t think the dialogue would have mattered – the cartoons of Satan mounting Saddam would have been clear enough.

Seems like Pauline is suitably chastised…or maybe the minders got her back in the straight jacket lol
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 11:00 am
I think if they really want to upset Saddam they should show him all of the Tom Cruise movies, back to back, without a break.
I know that would have me confessing to all sorts of atrocities.
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 11:49 am
Pauline is right. So is Ten Cents.
Just because Saddam behaved despicably is no reason for the West to. Two wrongs do not make a right, or if you prefer a different aphorism, don’t let him drag us down to his level.
Why does the right-wing confuse the concepts of punishment and revenge?
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 12:24 pm
I think we have the ultimate in insane moral equivalence. Playing a Southpark movie to a prisoner which lampoons the prisoner is “down to his level” of murder, torture, chemical weapon use etc etc.
How do these people get allowed to vote?
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 1:04 pm
Further to my above comment Mark Twain also said ‘if you want to see the dregs of all humanity, go down to the jail and watch the changing of the guard’.
The point is, Farrar, that as a guard why would you do anything to Saddam. He is a beast in a cage. Surely any normal human can see that guards picking on a defenceless prisoner locked in a cell reflects more poignantly on their twisted personalities than Saddams.
Frankly, I am sick and tired of you, and your blog anyway. Thats what I meant when I said I doubted your normal readership could understand my point of view and obviously you cant either. Its not even that they’re doing it, its more that idiots like you think its ‘obsolutely priceless’.
Yes David, its absolutely priceless. You are right. Pauline, Gordon and I shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Picking on prisoners is real funny. We should all get a good giggle out of this.
Next time I see a murderer getting run over by a moped I will laugh my ass off.
Good day.

I wonder if Ten Cents ever managed to work up such outrage for Saddam’s victims. Probably not.
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 1:34 pm
I just hope he got his money’s worth, cos you can’t give him change anymore…
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 1:38 pm
Nah, my outrage is normally brought on by reading absolute drool, like what you’ve taken to writing.
I actually vote National and am fairly sure Helen Clark is a man but that doesn’t mean I think you’re funny, or random articles you find are funny, and this certainly isn’t.
I now expect the standard rejoinder ‘if you dont like it, piss off somewhere else…’ the fact is David that yours is a well patronised blog and you do have some good contributors. However, your usual suspects are not who I’m talking about. Its like the Herald, full of tripe but still the best newspaper (or not, evs)
so I read it.
Work is very slow today so I dont mind making a stand on this. If there are only two people supporting me who are prepared to make a comment then this reflects very poorly indeed on your readership, and the people who comment.
While I am on my quasi intellectual, pompous sermonising streak I would point out that Germans have a term ‘Schadenfreude’, loosely meaning taking pleasure in other peoples misfortune. Do you take pleasure in this David?
If so, why?
Finally, I have as much empathy as anyone for Saddams victims. I further note that, while his sons died in a blaze of glory, Saddam was dragged out of a hole, like the animal he is. I guess this is a true reflection of his character.
Alrighty?

lighten up 10c, of course you are right, and abusing prisoners even evil maniacs like Saddam is wrong.
However the idea of him having to sit through Southpark is delicious on all sorts of (fairly) innocent levels.
humour is like that.
and should you choose to exercise vigilante rights while moped enabled, I personally will cheer you on, but ride safe because you can lose traction as you go over the hoody…
(in fact for some reason I now have visions of moped riding grannies hunting down murderers, I think I must be having a slow day too)
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 2:16 pm
You are right, I should lighten up
Keep the change.
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 2:52 pm
Where on earth did this fool come from, and how typical of the left to be outraged about Saddam’s suffering (of all things) when it supported leaving him in power with his maniacal children. 10 cents, you’ve really come close to outdoing Pauline on this thread – indeed I’d judge it in your favour – making you the virtuoso of imbecility thusfar.
Vote:August 30th, 2006 at 8:28 pm
Looks like someone here has an 80 foot satellite dish stuck up their ass!
(That would kill your sense of humour!)
Vote:August 31st, 2006 at 8:13 am
I wonder if any of those up in arms have actually viewed the movie in full?
The movie reduces Saddam from a loathsome figure to a ridicolous one. It’s exactly the sort of portrayal any dictator should be forced to see. I’d love North Korea’s beloved leader to see his portrayal in Team America also.
Vote:August 31st, 2006 at 12:01 pm
Its probably better than the movies they show in Gitmo
