They will outsource a lot more than this. Their computer services could easily be outsourced to India for instance etc etc etc.

  2. anonymous Says:

They have been outsourcing for quite some time now (Over 3 or 4 months) as a ‘trial’
There is talk they will move other services, as it is considerably cheaper.
    (123, broadband support, etc)

Christ, it can only get worse! I have enough trouble trying to speak to people at some helpdesks in New Zealand (southern cross is one among many) let alone if it were outsourced to somewhere where they don’t even speak English!

Meaning they have to have help desks – but they don’t have to be any good.

It’s like bank fees – they assume that people won’t bother going elsewhere until they need to use the help desk and find it’s no good (all it will be is people referring to a manual providing standard answers to standard problems). In the first half hour they will identify the problem and in the the second the standard answer will be worked through.

Telecom can get the sort of labour rates that are paid in the Philippines here in NZ. Just call the labour party, they have contacts that can help with staff requirements.

    Sheeeesh, no need to move.
