Useful Herald feature

I saw a link to this from Fraser’s blog. The NZ Herald has an interactive poll graph showing all digipoll results back to 1999 if you scroll backwards and forwards. Very cool and useful.

David, the graph is interesting but do you know when the next poll is coming out? I thought the TV3 one was meant to be out last weekend.

The only regular poll is the Morgan poll which is every two weeks. All the others have ir-regular schedules. They also tend not to reveal when they are polling, so parties can’t time their activitirs to match when pollsters are out in the field.

David, do you know of any other significant collation of polls? I was talking to a Norwegian politics student, apparently they have a database going back 40 years.

I’ll like to see this graph go back further to see how Labour faired in opposition.

Looking @ the the graph, for 3/4 of Labour’s first term National under English were doing ok. But for some reason they really took a drive in the ’02 election & never really recovered untill Dr. Brash came along.
The gap between National & Labour after ’02 & into ’03 was massive & were certainly dark days for the party.

They’ve certainly recovered now & look on track to winning the next election with a good margin over Labour.

I don’t think the NZ Herald polled much before 1999.

I have a database of every public poll since 1996. I also have the old Heylen polls back to 1974.
