Boxing Day Test

The Dominion Post laments the demise of the Basin Reserve Boxing Day Test. I couldn’t agree more and was chatting about this last week with friends. They were the perfect way to spend a couple of days between Christmas and New Year.

Today’s bad weather is simply God showing his displeasure there is no Boxing Day Test. If it was on, I am sure the weather would be hot and sunny!

Sorry but why would anybody want to watch our second rate (and that is being kind) team play when you have the best of all time doing his thing at the MCG.
I find it hilarious that NZC called our test the “traditional boxing day test” when it was only been in existence for a few years, the Aussie’s have been playing a game on Boxing day for years, they consider that if it keeps going for another 20-25 years THEN they might start and think about calling it a tradition.
Anyway, Sneddon and Bracewell have no interest in Test cricket, for them the ODI game and this god awful 20/20 crap is where it is at.

I agree in principle. Frankly I love test cricket more than pretty much anything else in life. Sadly, having been to the Chch test, it seems I am in a minority.
It was a wonderful occasion but realistically NZ Cricket was getting 6 or 7k people on Boxing Day. That awful 20/20 got 21k. It’s numbers unfortunately.
