Hey Google Cobbers
December 23rd, 2006 at 10:38 am by David FarrarIt’s nice of you to try and personalise the Google pages for Xmas, but you know kangaroos for google.co.nz just isn’t fair dinkum!
Someone should send Google Head Office a copy of Google Earth so they can tell the difference between New Zealand and Australia.
UPDATE: Seems those kangaroos have taken over the planet, not just New Zealand. So we presume it is deliberate

Kangaroos are a clever device internationally. Not only are they a cute Xmas device, they will also do for Boxing Day (geddit, “Boxing” Day). Boom – Boom.

DPF: From what I can see the same symbol is used on all the google local sites. Somehow they got the idea that kangaroos have something to do with Christmas — refreshing since I ususally get rather unbelieveable stories about virgins giving birth and such. And Three Wise Men in the Middle East? Since when!

It would be nice if next year they added a Kiwi pecking at one of the O’s dressed up as a Christmas pud.

Plenty of NZ wallaroos /wallabies hopping around Otago.
Feel included.
NZ’s lack of a significant mammal let the Maoris (suspiciously unsubsidised) poor management of a surrogate mammal, the moa… blanch this little Maori dhimmi’s heart to a sliver of beige.

Yes – it’s a global image because we’re getting it in Germany.
Today it’s changed – the ‘roos are now knitting the tinsel into squares.
If you click the image on the Google site, it will show you the 3 variations that they’ve had so far.
There will be a 4th!
