Australian Political Quiz
January 24th, 2007 at 2:52 pm by David FarrarA 40 question Aussie political test aligns you with the parties. My results are 84% Liberal aligned, 74% National, 51% Labor, 47% Democrats and 23% Greens.
It places my political outlook as 45.5% which is “right”.
On economic policy I am 86.8% which is “far right”
Social policy is 68.1% which is “right”
Traditional Values is -45.9% which is “left”
Looks pretty accurate to me. On economic issues I would like to sell anything which moves, yet I am decidedly liberal on traditional/moral values.

“Because your highest score is less than 66.6%, it suggests you have significant areas of disagreement with each of the parties.”
Yep, that pretty much pegs me
I think I’ll have to start one of my own…

Eeek. On economic policy I am far right(83.6pc)! They must be way to the left in Australia to call our mainstream economic policies “far right!”
On social policy I am dead centre (-0.4pc) and on traditional values I am -20.6pc (centre left).

How did you answer this one?
“The small business sector needs bigger tax breaks and more start-up grants from government”
Putting aside the fact that simplifying and reducing the tax burden is arguably better than tax breaks start up grants is awfully big govt (ie opposite of tax cuts…)

broad political orientation score is -38.4%
economic policy score score is -2.3%
social policy score is -30.2%
traditional values score is -78%
Overall rank puts me at Centre Left which is about where I see myself in NZ Politics.
Bit strange that it rated me as 80.5% green though. I am not an NZ Green Party supporter by any stretch of the imagination.

What was your One Nation score? Mine was embarrassingly high – although I suspect that some of the questions were a bit misleading.
Eg: Should migrants and refugees speak English – yes and not neccessarily was not available!

Some questions are badly worded or combine issues unfairly. I end up 75.1% Liberal and 32% Green (which sounds right). They say I am Centre to Centre Right (I disagree with the Right /Left spectrum entirely). They have my ecomics at 86.8% (Far Right — showing how bizarre the label is) and ditto for social policy but on tradition values I’m Left.

“Centre right” or “right” for each category.
GPT: Yes, I found answering some questions difficult because of their implications. For example, “The small business sector needs bigger tax breaks and more start-up grants from government” I answered “NO” because the government needs to back off full stop. I may have answered “yes” if the government was committed to getting bigger, and this would be the lesser of two evils.

I’m not surprised that most of the forum posters here came out as far right, since that’s consistent with their forum posts here.
Political orientation = -12.9%, a ‘Centre’ Economic policy = 1%, a ‘Centre’ position
Social policy = -21.8%. a ‘Centre Left’ position
Traditional values = 3.8%. a ‘Centre’ position
Now, is Aus to the left of the right os NZ?
I’d have guessed that they are more to the right than us, so does that make me centre right in NZ?

For teh love of god why? you will just end up with more Tranzrail debacles, more Telecom monopolies and the short term profit seeking which screws up NZs ‘invisbles’ so badly.
Why is keeping SOEs such anathema to the Right when in practice, they work just fine, and benefit most NZers?

An interesting quiz – I ended up spread across all parties – far right economically but left in traditional values. I have always felt that the left-right spectrum was too limiting and required a vertical axis – the horizontal would record the economic and the vertical the social.
Vote:January 25th, 2007 at 12:33 pm
Yeah, I saw one a while back that was in two dimensions.
Sidweways is moral liberality, and vertical is economic liberality.
Traditional liberals are actually economically conservative and morally liberal.
Traditional conservatives are economically liberal and morally conservative.
DPF (and Act, anarachists, libertarians) is morally liberal and economically liberal.
I’m morally and economically conservative.
