More Govt deception

Back in March the asked the Government what the costs are of moving to a new head office for the Ministry. The Ministry stated it would be $137,800. It turns out to have been $6.4 million.

Now 99.9% of people would have taken that as a question as to the costs of the new office. But no the Government interpreted the question as simply the cost of actually packing up gear and moving it down the road, not the actual cost of fitting out the new building.

I don't think any reasonable person would think the newspaper was only interested in the cost of hiring moving trucks etc. It is hard to conclude it was anything but a deliberate decision to deceive.
