Andrew Falloon blogs about how the UK Independence Party has now gained representation in Westminister, with two Lords having defected to them from the Conservatives.

David Cameron has a tough challenge ahead of him in balancing out the need to attract centrist voters with the need to retain appeal to your own base. When I was in the UK last year I was surprised by the extent of rank and file discontent, despite leading in the polls for the first time in 20 years or so.
