Funding Internet TV

Pleased to see NZ on Air is considering making productions intended for Internet viewing eligible for funding assistance.

A short 10 minute clip can get more people seeing it on You Tube than on TV, especialy outside of prime time.

The comment:

Independent producers were sceptical of the NZ on Air proposal, saying the internet had removed the traditional scheduling and promotion that ensured Kiwis watched shows, instead lining them up for direct competition with content from the rest of the world.

is an interesting one as it is true traditional scheduling is dying in favour of content on demand. Why one should resist this though, I don’t know.
