it really opened my eyes to how ordinary people can express an opinion freely even from countries that are riddled with oppression. The links to mexico blogs, Zimbabwe, Iraq, whatever take your interest are really good !!

The less redistributed the income – last I heard (that Critical Mass book) – the more we can expect it to resemble a power-law relationship, with a very few very rich and a very many very poor at the bottom.

Whether that’s absolute poverty or not I couldn’t say, but relative poverty is trouble.

Hell, I’m a hard working middle-class man with a wife and two kids. We’re a one-income family paying a mortgage in South Auckland.
I earn enough that I get nothing from the government, but I only earn enough to just keep our heads above water.

I’m sorry mate, but SUVs, golf clubs and eating at cafes are in some other world – certainly not my world or the world of the other middle-class Kiwis I know.

Not that I expect – or even want – handouts, but the government certainly makes it easier for those less hard-working/motivated than myself.
