2007 Radio and Television Correspondents’ Association Dinner

March 30th, 2007 at 4:11 pm by David Farrar

They have just had the annual Radio and Television Correspondents’ Association Dinner in the US. These are hilarious, and I think there is something great about the tradition of having the most powerful person in the world having to get up and lampoon himself.

You can see the video above, or read this article for some of the best lines.

Also worth viewing is when the entertainers got Karl Rove up on stage to take part in rapping as “MC Rove”.

W-Oil , did your dad get the Presidents ear during his $2500 handshake.
Nothing like a breakfast ‘with’ the President to get the the head to fit the new 10 gallon hat.

Chancey, suggest you get your facts right before making a fool of yourself.

The old man was invited, he certainly didn’t pay for the opportunity as you suggest and yes he did get the presidents ear at breakfast in the Oval Office.

Cast aspersions all you like, but you are so far wrong it isn’t funny.

And why the attack when all I did was quote Helen Clark?

    Breakfast in the ‘Oval office’?
The White House has a number of grand rooms suitable for meals, the Oval office isnt one of them.

Any fool can see the the furniture and decor in the background of the shot shows standard large hotel style. Not the period detail of the WH.

Likely that hundreds turned up to also have breakfast with W , all at the same time.
To believe differently shows the 10 gallon hat is way too small.

LISA Okay, Employment Contracts Act, repealing it or not?

JOHN Well Kay Wilkinson our spokesman Industrial Relations gave a speech this week

So you’ve yet to get a hard and fast policy then. Foreshore and Seabed legislation, repealing it or not?

JOHN Well we’ve said that we don’t like the Foreshore and Seabed legislation, but the reason that we didn’t support the Maori Party’s bill was that took us back to the pre Ngati Awha decision and it took us back to a position where in our view that wasn’t resolved.

LISA So what would you cut out of heath?

JOHN Well I think you’ve just gotta go back and look firstly at the system, see whether there’s any competitive tension in it at all

LISA So what of that spending would you cut?

JOHN Well what we certainly made clear in the last election campaign was that we would finance our tax cuts by increasing spending but at a slower rate than Labour had proposed

Better we stick to your dad, dont you think ?

Oh Chancey – you really do make yourself look silly.

Getting invited to have breakfast with the President of the US is a big thing. Hell US Senators will sell their votes off for the chance to do so.

The breakfast was not hundreds of people. It was a few dozen at most.

So are you NOW saying it wasnt at the WH ?

    Was it this one:
“President Attends 54th Annual National Prayer Breakfast
    Hilton Washington Hotel
    Washington, D.C. ”

    Not this one in Mexico?

    WASHINGTON, March 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The following is a
transcript of remarks by President Bush in breakfast with training,
    internships, exchanges and scholarship recipients:
    Hyatt Regency Merida

There seems to be separate National Catholic Prayer breafast and National Hispanic Prayer breafasts which W sometimes attends ( before elections). Im guessing it wasnt one of those

This says how intimate it all was …
“A very supportive audience there of 4000 people ”

Never mind, George has that knack of making it special for everyone, whoops that was Bill !

Im sure Joe Liberman is having plenty of cornflakes with George these days.

Chancey, you are a complete dick. The photo I published was at a dinner at the same conference that David Farrar attended, in fact he sat next to my father.

The breakfast was the next morning and only 6 people attended. One of which was my old man and another was H.P. Goldfield, who happens to be a personal friend of GWB AND my father..go google him, dickhead.

Every one used to think you were a fool, then you jumped in here and removed all doubt.
