Teaching Kiwi Values

Don Brash suggested around a year ago in a major speech that there are core Kiwi values such as equality for women, freedom of religion, democratic government and that these be taught or displayed to prospective immigrants, as a way to reduce any mismatches.

He was of course called all sorts of names for this by Labour.

Labour have now announced much the same thing.

If done correctly, I think this is of vital importance. I can’t stress how much damage has been done in Europe with widespread immigration of people who reject core aspects of secular democracy.

However I am sceptical about what exactly the Government will put together. I hope for example they will stress we are a country with freedom of speech, even including the freedom to offend and say unpopular things.
