Bad Greens

A spy sent me the following e-mail from the Greens:

From: Green Party [mailto:Green.Party@parliament.govt.nz]
Sent: Wednesday, 4 April 2007 10:38
Subject: GREENTIMES

Hi there, we are about to print our next copy of GreenTimes, which will give an update on lots of the work the Green MPs are engaged with. At present our database only has your email address. We would like to send you GreenTimes but need a postal address to do so.

Please reply with your address and you will get a GreenTimes in the next few weeks.

Okay so the Greens already have an e-mail address for this person. They can send them a pdf of the Green newsletter by e-mail or even send them a link to a website version. But no they are encouraging the person to also receive a paper copy.

Now we all know paper comes from trees, and chopping trees down for newsletters increases greenhouse gases and leads to global warming.

So why are the Greens needlessly wasting paper on people they can communicate with electronically? Is carbon neutrality just something for everyone else to do, al la Al Gore?
