More VUWSA woes
April 29th, 2007 at 12:17 pm by David FarrarClint Heine has done a good summary of all the self inflicted woes at VUWSA. These are not unique to this year, but fairly typical of what happens with compulsory membership when there is no accountability to students (the right to resign and take your money elsewhere is the ultimate accountability).
Clent has all the various juvenile misdeeds, but the latest is the Women’s Rights Officer who managed to spend $4,000 of student money on ringing psychic hotlines!! And she did this during only two weeks in the job.
One almost feels sorry for the exec members who are dedicated to their jobs, like Geoff Hayward, for having to put up with so many muppets [(c) Jeremy] on their Exec.

Yes these are the kooks who inhabit Wimmins Studies departments (there–I spelled it right for them). Surely we as progressives can all look forward to a feminist utopia paganism replaces “patriarchal” Western science and religion, and lesbians procreate– and have abortions, thank Goddess– without men.

Vic barely counts as a university anyhow.

I was reading some of the comments on the Salient articles about this and a feminist was spelling women “womyn”. I have seen it before like that but cannot believe there are really women out there like this? Fuck they must hate life.
And David, I have started a NZ Bloggers Union. Membership is free but compulsory. That is to say that Span, Maia and the Red Confectionery girls are all members. I doubt they will like the policies I have stated but tough cheese really! Welcome to the union David!

Oh and if you check the comments on that VUWSA thread somebody has put on a rather revealing letter about everybodys fav VUWSA President!

Is geoff spending his time locked away in his office on Gmail chat? I’ve walked by a number of times and that’s all he’s been doing.
Seems to be the way he deals with not doing his job at all.
rebuild students trust
rebuild student finances
renewed student action
yeah right.

That’s funny, because I would have thought communication was a big part of Geoff’s job…
It’s bloody hard to be an effective VUWSA President when you have petty exec conflict dominating your time. I hated dealing with the conflict – it drains your energy and kills your drive to do other stuff. Nick wasn’t bad at dealing with it, and from what I hear, Geoff seems to be pretty good at dealing with it too.

Aucklander at Large. You win the award for the stupidist bit of spin I have every heard to excuse somebody for basically fucking around chatting to mates online. Nice one.
He should be out there kicking his exec in the ass and sorting this out, which he seems inept to even do that. He is on par as that stupid woman running up $4000 in phone charges in her office all day.
No wonder the executive is falling to pieces.

It’s outrageous that people like this will this year have control over Vuwsa’s 2007 income of $1.8 million in compulsory student levies.
What exactly has Vuwsa done to deserve $1.8 million?

40 cents.
VUWSA sets the annual levies for every student to pay each year. As you can see the VUWSA executive obviously is not capable to handle the responsibility of it all.
