45 days!
May 6th, 2007 at 4:19 pm by David FarrarIt was hilarious watching the US live cable coverage of Paris Hilton being sentenced to 45 days jail for a parole violation relating to a drink driving case.
I’ve never seen so many news anchors and journalists with huge grins on their faces. I mean one could have boiled an egg on the heat of the joy radiating from their bodies. None of them actually came out and said “There is karma after all” but they were thinking it.

After the drunken chaos and carnage in ChCh this weekend with two 16yr old girls dead and 4 others critically injured, is is fair to ask what will it take to get the drinking age put back to 20?

The driver was 22 years old, so the drinking age wouldn’t have made a lot of difference here.
Cheers, Chris W.

If you actually believe in all that stuff, karma is worked out from your previous lives – the idea of anything in this life affecting your current karma is false.
So all Paris’s bad or good deeds in this life won’t have any effect until her next one. When she will be reincarnated as a slug.

If only we could get people incarcerated for driving on suspended / no licenses here then there would probably be a huge reduction in crashes and fatalaties…

Blaming that murder of those girls on the legal purchase age for alcohol is fairly bizarre and even offensive. I blame the 22 year old driver with homicidal tendencies.

Paris H – what!! you mean the law actually applies to me? You’re sending me where?
Vote:Just because I #### anything in pants, inhale anything illegal I can get hold of, drive drunk and disqualified…more than once..why me???? I mean OJ chopped up his wife, the dude who played Baretta, he shot his! The weird one molested kids and he gets to keep doing it…and you’re sending ME to jail…. I thought celebs had freedom to do anything…I mean don’t the rules just apply to poor people? Can’t I get a jury trial??

Oh come off it; the actions of the driver whatever his age did not occur in isolation. A large testoserone poisoned crowd of very pissed teenagers was a disaster waiting to happen one day.

Craigs comments, heh heh. Absolutely. Whats the bet on appeal it will be changed to slap over wrist with wet bus ticket. Crimes against Fashion is more likely to stick though. Unless of course her sunglasses are supposed to be novelty oversized ones.

About time the judiciary started treating more criminals the same way – irrespective of who the crimnals think they are ! Bollocks to any judge who has his/her head turned because the offender thinks the law does not apply to them.
If we did this in NZ, there would be more respect for the justice system and the lawmakers.
Vote:Yawn – I will die waiting !

I thought the funniest comments by PH to the judge was when she told him she had people to read papers served on her and people to read papers that she signed so No she didnt know anything about the driving ban.
She and Nicole Ritchie jusy have to be either the smartest young women around or the dumbest.Either way the dollars keep rolling in.

I don’t see it as hilarious at all. To attract a sentence like that in NZ you would have to be a hoon with at least half a dozen convictions for drunken driving and have a long list of previous.
Vote:I also agree that the decision of Parliament to hold the drinking age at 18 has everything to do with the Christchurch situation. Those proposing raising the age did so as a start to dealing with drunken out of control kids. Those who opposed in the face of overwhelming and commonsense Public Opinion once again showed their arrogance and complete remoteness from reality. National strategists also displayed their incompetence once again.

PH is probably looking at ways her people can do her time for her…let’s start with the one who can’t read.
