The PR firms can change the packaging all they like, but as your comment on being contacted by such firms highlights, spin will always read like spin. There isa danger in accepting the idea that more views on a corporate blogsite equals greater truth. Anyone familiar with the interent will know that isn’t so. Once the online community knows a message is spin, the amount of views may increase, but the intent of the views has changed.
A quick check of any comments section shows that unique views does not translate into multiple unique support.
If PR Firms chose to recognise this, they’d have a hard time selling their packages to corporates and politicans. I can see it now:
“So, Mr.PR, this number here, that means there are 300,000,000 unique views that have read my ideas?”
“That’s correct, Mr.Mugabe! You are a very popular man!”
“Oh how heartwarming. I thought I was hated. Thank you so much, Mr.PR!”
I suspect Mr.Mugabe would disable his comments section.
