LLU prices

As I said on Monday, there was no way the LLU price was going to be set above $25, and the Commerce Commission has come out with a price of $16.49 for urban areas.  They have de-averaged the price and the rural LLU price is $32.20 (the price if averaged would be around $21).

The Herald reports that most ISPs who were planning LLU say this is a price which is low enough to encourage investment by them, which is good.

Rural users will no doubt even more keenly await the Government’s rural broadband announcements, foreshadowed  over a year ago.

Peter Griffin blogs on some of the other costs associated with LLU.

A good first ruling from the new Telecommunications Commissioner.
