Public Transport subsidies

Sometimes there is a good economic case for public subsidies.  But other times it does not add up.  Such as the proposal in Wellington too spend $300 million on extra capacity which will remove only 100 cars a day from the at peak time.

We also see this in Auckland. Bus subsidies have gone up by 89% or $40 million.  Bus patronage has gone up only 1.2%.
