When Night Falls

A Kiwi made independent film, When Night Falls, has its world premiere at the Paramount Theatre in Wellington this Tuesday and then goes to public release on Thursday at 20 cinemas including Rialto Auckland.
It’s a psychological thriller set in the Wairarapa in 1932, with (amongst others) two nurses and a serial killer. The director and producer is Alex Galvin.
There are still tickets available for the premiere (from the Paramount or 04 384 4080), which includes a complimentary glass of wine and nibbles from 7pm a d the Jazz band Otis playing from 7pm in the Paramount’s cafe area.
I’m looking forward to a good night.

Eagle v Shark is the best Kiwi film I have seen in a while. It has really whet my appetite for Flight of the Conchords tonight at 10pm on Prime. Pity about the late hour but better late than never. Their BBC radio show was wonderful.

Can anyone remember what they used to write books/make movies about before the invention of the serial killer?
No disrespect to this particular movie, but it seems that whenever a dramatist lacks inspiration, the serial killer is a convenient plot device to hang a narrative on. I mean, even Shortland St has one. Surely that must rob the idea of any lingering traces of originality.
