DPF on Radio NZ on Sunday Add this story to Scoopit!.

I’m part of a panel on with Chris Laidlaw on Sunday on Radio New Zealand from 10 am to 10.30 am.

We’re discussing “Honour and Accountability in the Public Service” and the panel is:

  • Rod Oram
  • Bob Gregory
  • probably a former State Services Commissioner
  • myself

Never been on with Chris Laidlaw before, so will be an interesting experience. It’s a good topic also.

  1. Tane (1,096) Says:

David, just to clarify, are you acting as the National Party’s spokesman on the issue?

  2. Bevan (3,661) Says:

Tane, just to clarify, are you acting as the Labour Party’s troll on this issue?

  3. Seamonkey Madness (325) Says:

So you are all going to be silent then?

However, if the topic was Lack of Honour and Accountability in the Public Service, then there might be some solid discussion.

    =)

  4. francis (710) Says:

lol, is it really true that Tane’s being paid to act as an official Labour blogger?

  5. Tane (1,096) Says:

    Francis, two words: tinfoil hat.

    http://www.thestandard.org.nz/?p=399

  6. Bevan (3,661) Says:

lol, is it really true that Tane’s being paid to act as an official Labour blogger?

Oh no francis, they have explained ad nauseum how the labour movement is seperate form the Labour Party…. Oh wait I think I see a new Tui billboard.

  7. PM of NZ (55) Says:

“Honour and Accountability in the Public Service”?

Is that like “How to apply for a gong and how to cover my backside in the Public Service”?

  8. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“David, just to clarify, are you acting as the National Party’s spokesman on the issue?”

Moron. DPF has said so many times his views are his own. Anyone who reads his posts can see the views he promotes are presented honestly and openly. The allegation that he is some kind of subversive media influence working to secretly promote National policies is just typical loonie left conspiracy theory garbage.

  9. Hoolian (215) Says:

Bob Gregory is amazing. It would be worth listening to just to hear him. He’s very funny, quick witted and knows everything there is to know about bureaucracy, etc. Had him as a lecturer.

Otherwise, the other people on the panel look great as well.

    Oh, and Tane, piss off.

  10. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

DPF will be there with a Sir Humphrey, a leftist media stooge, and a Victoria uni academic. Ona left-right balance, I’d say that’s four to one (counting Laidlaw). Typical Laidlaw/ RNZ scenario.

  11. francis (710) Says:

So you’re not being paid to blog, then, Tane?

  12. sonic (2,818) Says:

    Are your Francis?

    Thought not.

  13. Bevan (3,661) Says:

    Are your Francis?

    Huh?

  14. Frank. (607) Says:

“Honour and Accountability in the Public Service” : Sounds great but there is a “Hollow” sound to it. Plenty of “In House inquiries” into “inappropriate behaviour” by state servants. No charging under the Crimes Act.

How much information do they keep from their MP bosses in the form of emails that are with held from them?

Remember the conflict of interest alleged by DBP against Madeline Seychell? I don’t remember the State Service Commissioner Mark Prebble leaping to her defense?

Squeaky Clean? I don’t think so by a long chalk.

  15. Castafiore (263) Says:

    Stalins Lessons in Ideological indoctrination:

    Trolling 101 :

All good trolls should agree with each other to help the idea gain credence. Start up a blogg and a copy blog and refer to it as much as possible also stating that graphs and statements made in it a absolutely correct and the sight is an authority on the subject.

    Tane, ☺☺ Good boy.

Sonic, sam Dixon, Roger Nome, — Apart from agreeing with each other you have not yet referred to the Standard Today and you are clearly not obeying the teachings and doctrine of the Dear Leader.

  16. David Farrar (1,560) Says:

Tane – your obsession is getting tiresome. And hey how is the disclosure statement going for your blog? Never met a bigger hypocrite than someone who attacks me for being open about his affiliations and refuses to even reveal his own ones.

  17. Tane (1,096) Says:

David, I’m not parading myself on Radio NZ as a neutral political commentator. The blog I post on clearly states its political affiliations. Will you be stating yours on Radio NZ?

[DPF: Your lies on this issue are tiresome. I do not parade myself as anything. On the contrary unlike you, who thinks even revealing a surname is too much disclosure, I disclose everything about me. Your puny mind is unable to comprehend that maybe they invited me precisely because they think I will bring some diversity to the panel. In fact I suspect I am being set up to be the "fall guy" but that is another matter.

I am absolutely relaxed about how Radio NZ describe me. They can call me a right wing blogger, they can call me a former National staff member, they can call me a vocal critic of the Environment Ministry CEO, they can read out my life history - I really don't care for unlike you I am proud of my history.

I wonder if you have a shred of integrity and also write in demanding that Chris Laidlaw be described as a former Labour Party MP or a spokesperson for the Labour Party? Of course not. You're a hypocrite of the first order. You abuse my generosity by your repeated smears. I'm just glad I will never be as petty as you.]

  18. Grant (307) Says:

    Tane said:
” Francis, two words: tinfoil hat.”

I think he was after a “yes” or a “no”.
    G

  19. Tane (1,096) Says:

    Well, no then.

  20. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“David, I’m not parading myself on Radio NZ as a neutral political commentator.”

    Who is??

  21. gd (2,286) Says:

Look Forward to hearing this DPF Get stuck in to those bloody lefties The independencethe public service is a myth and has been a myth for the past decade. Its now fulll of forelock tugging tuggers who allow their politcial masters to commit acts of treason against the citizens and just bow and scrape to them. I dont see one senior civil servant with any balls and that includes the men.

There is no honour and there is no accountability What we have is an unhealthy conspriacy of the politcians and civil servants to benefit themselves at the citizens expense.

  22. Andrew W (1,629) Says:

DPF, how’s the moderation plan coming along?

[DPF: We have four moderators appointed and moderation policy is being discussed as I type this. May e annoucnign who they are this pm]

  23. sonic (2,818) Says:

Castafiore, you share a crazed far-right groupthink with a few posters in this blog. You gibber on about Stalin (highly relevent today eh)? and advance wacky conspiracy theories that alledge that any poster to the left of Genghis Khan is working for the state.

I’d try and get a life.

  24. Insolent Prick (417) Says:

Former State Services commissioner lined up is obviously not Don Hunn, who hasn’t yet completed his inquiry into the setchell affair. Michael Wintringham possibly.

  25. Tane (1,096) Says:

David, as far as I know Chris Laidlaw is not on the Labour Party payroll – are you suggesting he is?

[DPF: No but your campaign of denigration started well before I made the voluntary disclosure I was contracting for a couple of months to help out National HQ. And you will be pleased to know that is almost over. And in case you haven't noticed the contract hasn't stopped me from criticising the party and various MPs during that period. But I take from your comment that only receiving money from a party is what makes you want someone labeled as a "spokesperson" and that you will stop with your campaign once this current contract finishes?]

  26. Lee C (4,120) Says:

Have you seen the standard’s re-run of a news article from the last election implicating John Key in the Exclusive Brethren cover up?

They have coupled it with Hager’s statement to the Select committee ergo – the EFB must be good?

    Any comment – Tane?

  27. krazykiwi (7,395) Says:

Is it troll double-points day today?

  28. Bevan (3,661) Says:

Say it aint so Lee! I was under the impression that the Standard wasnt a Labour Party mouth piece! Someone has been telling porkies again.

  29. krazykiwi (7,395) Says:

i saw a nih comment over at the [low] standard a few days ago, said he/she was looking forward to RB or D4J posting so he/she could profile their IP address.

i wonder who gets to see that info… and who they pass it up to?

  30. Lee C (4,120) Says:

The dangerous thing I think is that Labour is going to seriously run a dirty election – it has already started – the EFB was the declaration of war. The problem now, is, if National take it lying down, they will be trounced at the election.

By turning up the nasti-meter a couple of notches, those who should be showing more responsibility, are playing a game which can only be to the detriment of the people.

  31. Tane (1,096) Says:

LeeC: I’m not sure what you’re asking. Could you please clarify?

KK: We don’t pass anyone’s personal details on. Nih is merely a commenter there, just as he is here. But nice attempt bro.

  32. Lee C (4,120) Says:

Well Tane – you are linked to the Standard, so I assumed you might know of the vid, or have an opinion about it…

  33. krazykiwi (7,395) Says:

    Tane – from the standard:

    Nih Oct 10th, 2007 at 8:32 pm
I would allow the trolls to post, ban the offensive and abusive ones and let reasonable freedom of expression run free. Let Redbaiter post, I’ve always wanted a profile of his IP addresses.

    (?p=425#comment-691)

Now why would nih say that? Does he/she have access to IP details? How is that blog disclosure statement coming along?

  34. Tane (1,096) Says:

Yeah, I’m just not quite sure what you’re asking.

  35. roger nome (4,067) Says:

“Your puny mind is unable to comprehend that maybe they invited me precisely”

Shit DPF that sounds like a redbaiter sentence :-) are you losing it or something? All bow before DPF the almighty you puny let wing mortals!!!
    mmmwwwwhahahahahaha! mmmmwwwwhahahahaha!

  36. Tane (1,096) Says:

KK: Nih’s talking out his arse. Hell, the guy even votes ACT. Are you really that paranoid? The left backlash has really got to you righties eh?

  37. Sam Dixon (630) Says:

meanwhile, on the National’s wastewatch website http://wastewatch.co.nz/

  38. Lee C (4,120) Says:

    Ok Tane:
What is your opinion about the vid’s showing John Key meeting with two EB members?

Do you think John Key lied about his involvement with the EB’s leaflet?

Do you think that this vid, coupled with Hager’s testimony at the Select Committee would be enough to convince people tha the Election Finance Bill is a sound piece of legislation?

  39. Bevan (3,661) Says:

Yeah, I’m just not quite sure what you’re asking.

Its a pretty obvious question Tane. Nih made a statement regarding users IP addresses, why did he? Does he have access to the addresses, and what is your policy on the use of individual posters IP address details?

  40. Bevan (3,661) Says:

Hell, the guy even votes ACT.

Oh yeah, he really sounds like an ACT supporter.

  41. Tane (1,096) Says:

Hi LeeC, I wasn’t actually responsible for the vid – you’ll have to talk to all_your_base. Go over and ask him if you like.

Personally, yes I think it’s pretty clear John Key lied about his involvement with the EB’s leaflet. I also think Nicky Hager has some good points to make on the EFB. The definition of election advertising needs to be tightened up. There should be public funding to reduce the corrupting influence of money on politics. And anonymous donations/trust funds should be made illegal. But overall, electoral reform is needed, and I’m happy with some imperfections if need be.

But I don’t want to turn this thread into a debate about the EFB.

  42. Tane (1,096) Says:

Its a pretty obvious question Tane.

Bevan, I was referring to LeeC at the time, not KK. I’ve now responded to her as she’s clarified her question.

Oh yeah, he really sounds like an ACT supporter.

He said he was on a thread over at The Standard. Can’t be arsed finding it for you, but it’s there if you look. He also describes himself as an Objectivist on his blog.

  43. Lee C (4,120) Says:

Sorry to disappoint Tane, but I am a man.

    (Or a very confused lesbian!)

  44. Tane (1,096) Says:

But Lee, you’d make such a good woman!

  45. Lee C (4,120) Says:

    By your standards, probably…

  46. Tane (1,096) Says:

    So… is that a yes?

  47. Sam Dixon (630) Says:

    Roger Nome –

You have to remember that Farrar is both the Nat’s pollster and their blogger. ie he is responsible for keeping the blogosphere National territory and he’s more fimiliar with the Nat’s private poll numbers than anyone..

Now, the last month has been rough on both accounts,

-Te Standard is taking off (there are 40 comment threads on there now, they only stretched to half a dozen a week ago, and the standard of comment is much higher, not that it get much worse than kiwiblog ), and its already getting more media coverage than Kiwiblog does. So the Nat’s are losing the power to shape the discourse that the blogosphere offers.

    - those poll numbers (and you can bet the Nat’s have had Farrar polling heavily in the last three weeks) mustn’t be looking too flash either after the half a dozen fiascos National has had.

[DPF: For fuck's sake you're a pompous idiot. Listen to yourself - "he is responsible for keeping the blogosphere National territory". Oh yes that is in my job description as a member of the vast right wing conspiracy. It's interesting that in the last few weeks more and more threads have people dedicating to discrediting me personally, rather than attacking the actual views I put forward. Sam continues as part of this.]

  48. Sam Dixon (630) Says:

Tane and Lee C – love abrewin’?

  49. roger nome (4,067) Says:

“Sorry to disappoint Tane, but I am a man.

    (Or a very confused lesbian!)”

Or a lesbian trapped in a mans body?

  50. Bevan (3,661) Says:

and its already getting more media coverage than Kiwiblog

Really? Ive only ever heard it referenced here.

  51. Tane (1,096) Says:

Shit Dave, you sound like a man who’s starting to lose it. Rough few weeks?

[DPF: Quite the opposite. Life has never been better. The company has more business than ever before, I'm earning decent money, I'm off to Estonia in December, social life is superb, the blog remains fun, I have a road trip planned with my best mate. As I said life has never been better]

  52. roger nome (4,067) Says:

    “For fuck’s sake you’re a pompous idiot.’

hehe dpf mate – take some lithium and have a lye down. Al that faux outrage at being described as a “National Party Blogger” can’t be good for the old ticker. I know you enjoy you tag of “internet commentator” as it gives you a false image of neutrality – but that can’t last I’m afraid.

  53. krazykiwi (7,395) Says:

“…and their blogger”. that’s right sam… say it often enough and folks might believe it to be true.

“and its already getting more media coverage than Kiwiblog does”. bollocks. the only place it has any significant coverage is here, thanks to link-whoring trolls

  54. Sam Dixon (630) Says:

Bevan – The Standard has been in Sideswipe, half of Trotter’s column in the Fairfax papers last week, and was in Bill Ralston’s column in the Herald last week. And that’s just what I’ve seen, someone tole me that porirua market one was on the news once but I didn’t see it (actually, was that the standard or did they get it off youtube?)

Plus they’re being linked all over the place. Russell Brown led with one of their stories this morning.

  55. Tane (1,096) Says:

Oh and Sam, at the risk of blowing our own trumpet, you missed Molesworth & Featherston :)

  56. Sam Dixon (630) Says:

Tane – never a man to blow your own trumpet, of course.

btw, how do youse make the proper emoticons? I’m so last century :-(

  57. Sam Dixon (630) Says:

    oh! I can do it!

  58. Tane (1,096) Says:

You just made one bro. It’s automatic on this blog – cos it’s all about the high production values.

  59. Lee C (4,120) Says:

I think gnome got it in one, and Tane, I know it’s Friday , but I’m sure there are other sites you could be on for what you appear to be after…

Despite what you might have heard, the purpose of this site is to engage in a ‘Mass-debate”.

    Oh alright then, yes.
    I mean no.
    Oh shit….

  60. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“I know you enjoy you tag of “internet commentator” as it gives you a false image of neutrality – but that can’t last I’m afraid.”

You sad deranged fuckwit. Nobody is ever neutral.

  61. roger nome (4,067) Says:

“You sad deranged fuckwit. Nobody is ever neutral.”

Hey bleater – off your meds in preparation for the weekend I see. No more work = no more need for sanity – yiiippppeeeeee!

  62. Lee C (4,120) Says:

I had a cat once. That was neutered.

  63. the bean (10) Says:

gosh are you fullas always this angry?

hehe isn’t it funny how the right assumes that Tane is a paid Labour worker. This is after one of Key’s own advisors acknowledged that Labour is much better at that pesky campaigning stuff than National. Maybe Key should be offering you a job Tane cos you are obviously getting under some peoples skin

  64. the bean (10) Says:

by the way guys (and not girls Lee C, I promise) I am trying to figure out what song Johnkey is singing in his karaoke performance. If anyone has any suggestions check it out

    http://thesproutandthebean.wordpress.com/2007/10/11/details-details/#comments

  65. Seamonkey Madness (325) Says:

OMG is this The Standard circle-jerk self-congratulation thread or DPF announcing he is on the RNZ panel discussing ‘Honour and Accountability in the Public Service’?

Sometimes it is hard to tell.

  66. Insolent Prick (417) Says:

Considering the Standard spends 99% of the time either responding to DPF’s threads, because it’s too stupid to come up with original ideas, or rehashing scoop articles obsessing about John Key, it’s no wonder a small group of pinkos gravitate to that place.

  67. sonic (2,818) Says:

I think the Standard (and I say this having no connection with that organ) is doing a good job widening the debate online.

There has been a renewal of confidence within the broad left over the last month. The next election at one point looked like a shoo-in for the Nats, new leader up against a government that seemed worn out.

Thats changed, and the online blogointernetsphere is just reflecting that.

  68. Insolent Prick (417) Says:

More likely, sonic, a cabal of Labour Party staffers are venting their rage at the imminent loss of their well-paid parliamentary jobs and are wanting to bring the house down with it.

  69. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

Thats changed, and the online blogointernetsphere is just reflecting that.

How is that? Merely because Kiwiblog is nowadays bogged down in leftist bullshit from a cadre of clueless commies this is proof of ” a renewal of confidence”?? Don’t think so. From the frequency and utter banality of the posts it looks to me a lot more like desperation.

  70. Billy (120) Says:

The one that makes me laugh is kiwiblogblog (which I do suspect Sonic being involved in: given his pre-deliction for stalking Christopher Hitchens, it fits).

Rabidly posting hour after hour and no-one being intersted enough to comment.

  71. tim barclay (886) Says:

Do not think the left has much to crow about. Your great leader Gordon Brown has crashed and burned. You should see PM questions this week, David Cameron just slew him. Somehow I do not think a dour scot is going to play all that well. She is going to try a Gordon Brown conjuring trick with a makeover of her Government (though unless she fires Cullen it will not be the case) – except Brown is now referred to as a bottler. Oh well NEXT.

  72. sonic (2,818) Says:

“I do suspect Sonic being involved in”

Not me mate, I just have good old HW.

“Your great leader Gordon Brown has crashed and burned”

After Iraq I don’t think many on the left look to Brown as a “great leader”

But cherish it, seems like there is nothing in NZ making you happy.

  73. Sam Dixon (630) Says:

Seamonkey – its a be-concerned-about-DPF’s-stress-levels-thread/left-wing circle jerk – what can I say? even when we’re feeling good, we’re caring people

  74. Bevan (3,661) Says:

The one that makes me laugh is kiwiblogblog (which I do suspect Sonic being involved in: given his pre-deliction for stalking Christopher Hitchens, it fits).

All the new sites for the left seem to be to follow sonics tactic of stalking someone:

    The Standard: John Key
    Kiwiblogblog: DPF

  75. Pascal (2,013) Says:

roger nome: hehe dpf mate – take some lithium and have a lye down

That’s the second time I’ve seen you make that “typo”. It’s starting to become a habit.

Lye is a strong solution of sodium or potassium hydroxide. In the context you were referring to, you are looking for “lie”, to assume a position of rest or repose.

Anyway, good to see the trolls come out of the woodwork once more promoting “The Standard”. I guess they must just be jealous because non of them were invited to appear on the Radio or on Television.

  76. CharlotteM (57) Says:

Good luck. Make sure you stay immune from contamination from Canon Oram’s pro-Labour ideas. Do congradulate Laidlaw on his re-election, should he be re-elected. His re-election would be testament to the ignorance of the average voter and the poor performance of the media. If people realised how lazy Laidlaw had been he would have been turfed out.

  77. Inventory2 (7,223) Says:

Sam Dixon said “Te Standard is taking off (there are 40 comment threads on there now, they only stretched to half a dozen a week ago, and the standard of comment is much higher, not that it get much worse than kiwiblog ),”

Sam, if Kiwiblog is as full of shite as you suggest that it is, it begs the question…..why do you spend so much time here? Your words and your actions are poles apart! Go back to the standard, talk conspiracy theories with your mates there, and I’m sure we’ll ALL be much happier!

  78. roger nome (4,067) Says:

“Lye is a strong solution of sodium or potassium hydroxide.”

    Yeah I know – doh!

  79. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“Go back to the standard, talk conspiracy theories with your mates there, and I’m sure we’ll ALL be much happier!”

    Damn right. Who needs it.

  80. Inventory2 (7,223) Says:

Redbaiter – it’s strange eh – Sam, Tane, Sonic, Robert Owen, Robinson (when he’s not banned) and roger nome……they all hate it here; they get abused, shot down in flames, constantly “outed”, and yet every day, they rock up again, like lambs to the slaughter. Quite honestly, I’d have to be paid to put up with what they do – wow, maybe I’m on to something here……

  81. roger nome (4,067) Says:

Strange Inventory – I feel like we keep coming here and make the majority of righties here look quite ordinary. Sure we can’t match the volume of bluster and abuse that you guys generate, but when it comes down to it we kill you guys when it comes to analysis. That’s why I come back day after day – it’s just too much fun :-)

  82. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“we kill you guys when it comes to analysis.”

Replace analysis with lying and you’re on to it.

“That’s why I come back day after day – it’s just too much fun”

Fun for you maybe. Extremely tiresome for anyone slightly more sophisticated than a guinea pig.

  83. roger nome (4,067) Says:

“Fun for you maybe. Extremely tiresome for anyone slightly more sophisticated than a guinea pig.”

So presumably you find it enthralling then Baiter? After all, no one is here more often than you :-0

  84. Owen McShane (1,225) Says:

IF we are going to discuss corruption etc in the public service then the place to start is in local bodies.
Every day I see incompetence, biased report writing, bullying, fee gouging and straight out duress, coertion and extortion.
The standard goes like this “you have complained about our fees but we won’t issue your 224c certificate unless you pay up in full. So there.”
I am busy compiling a file for the Auditor General for one council.
If any of you have similar problems remember the Audit Office is an alternative to the High Court and costs nothing. However, to get them involved (they are reluctant to get their hands in the dirt) you will probably need to get a Councillor to write to them in support.
