with more and more aucklanders heading to Wanganui, Laws is easily going to be holding a very lucrative and prestigious mayoralty.

Be interesting to see what timely initiatives he concocts this time round

Inventory

There's nothing surprising about Michael Laws winning back Wanganui

His protest against gangs was superb PR.

Possibly a little way off the thread, but, has anybody else noticed that ratepayers who live outside of an area have not had their voting papers sent to them this year. I have properties in Auckland city, Hamilton city and Tauranga city and did not get any votes there this year. Friends with beach houses on the Coromandel Peninsula did not get a vote there this year. One friend got a vote at Hahei, but as a family trust owns the property he he had to get four pages of forms signed by no less than a notary public.
I dearly wanted to vote for John Banks as I think the bludging Jafas deserve the bastard.

The only reason I'm disappointed to see Banksie elected Mayor is because he will no longer be availiable to run the only early morning talkback worth listening to.

Cam Brewer is a friend of Banksie. Give him a few years though.

And unaha-closp, C&R did not pick Banksie. They do not endorse a mayoral candidate and Banks is running as an independent.

That's not to say though, that C&R people won't be voting for Banksie and vice-versa, i'm sure they will be.

If ever there were a year for a high profile anybody to run for Auckland mayor this was it. Both Banks and Hubbard have despised as proven useless mayors. The minnows are minnows and/or kooks. Why the hell did C&R pick Banks? It is like they wanted to pick a gauranteed one term mayor.[/rant]

I can imagine a lot of leftist people would be disappointed to see John Banks come back being a strong Right politician.

I can imagine a lot of people (fullstop) would be disappointed to see John Banks come back because he's barking.

Why would anyone want him back? All I have heard is some people don't like Hubbard, or at least what the council he worked with did and did not do.

What has Banks done?

I think Hastings and Napier could do with some people who could work together. Old rivalries between the cities is holding them both back
