Protesters and Parliament

No Right Turn has blogged about the case raised in the House by Gordon Copeland, about how there is a Speaker’s Ruling that anyone who has been on a protest march is not allowed to enter Parliament for 24 hours, without the permission of the Speaker’s Office.

This actually affected myself and Stephen Franks also. After the protest march Jackie Blue kindly invited us into Copperfields (Parliament’s cafe) for lunch.  As we went through security, we were told we couldn’t be let in, even though we were with an MP, without the permission of the Speaker’s Office.

I found it rather amusing to be classified as an official security threat to Parliament – I suspect Stephen was the same!
