Fijian scouts banned from Jamboree
December 21st, 2007 at 9:08 am by David FarrarOkay now this is getting silly. Ten Fijian scouts have been banned from a jamboree in New Zealand because of their relatives.
Considering Winston made an exception for a Government Minister recently, he should make an exception for the Scouts. I’m with Keith Locke on this one.

Sort of fits in with the general message in tom scots carton the other day.

And again, something the government has touched turns to custard.

This is pathetic posturing. The govt has been inconsistent on the visa ban from start to finish. If it’s rugby ‘we can’t afford to lose the sevens’, if it’s football you can get stuffed a couple of days before the match and there were no waivers for Netball.
This is just plain nasty. They are kids from a nation that we generally regard as a neighbour – a bit of political tension should not be taken out on kids.

And at Christmas too.
Very petty and mean spirited. Not a good look for the government, but that does seem to be the image they are portraying week in and week out.

And another thing:
This ban is punishing the innocent to make Clark look like a strong leader.
A strong leader would show compassion.

This Government is very proud about how NZ stood up against the USA over the Nuclear issue. But now they go mad at Fiji because they stand up against NZ.

scout kids can’t vote – but their parents can.
scout parents: help get rid of this disgraceful Labour government in ’08

slightlyrighty – did you really mean “week in and week out”, or given the next comment by GPT1, should it have been “weak in and weak out”?
Vote:December 21st, 2007 at 9:52 am
One wonders what reason they will have lined up to allow the Rugby-sevens in.

Jesus it is pitiful. Just like a bitter and twisted parent that uses a child in a divorce case as a tool to hurt the other parent. If any of the lefties with their faux compassion and “looking after those who need looking after” can justify this, it will put a cap on their annus horribilis

When kids are used as political pawns as a society we really have scrapped the bottom of the barrel.
I will be at the jamboree and will make sure that this is discussed.

Typical of the Socialist cretins Alway punish the innocent and let the criminals off.
Why is anyone surprised at Crazys actions. She is really in the grips of meglomania now. In fact she at an very advanced stage of the illness as any shrink will agree.

Did anyone send Fiji Frank links to the EFB threads?

I could not disagree with DPF more. It is by squeezing everyday citizens with such measures that you can bring about changes in Fiji. The military dictatorship in Fiji do not need to come to New Zealand but when the rights of normal citizens are disrupted, this is when the militarys role becomes untennable to the public. It is regrettable that children are involved and I indeed we need to be doing more to ensure that the effects on them are minimal but given that this regime has overthrown a democratically elected government in our own backyard, our sanctions look pretty similar to a wet bus ticket!
Vote:December 21st, 2007 at 11:03 am
So, why isn’t New Zealand placing a total travel ban on all Fijian citizens, deporting those currently in this country and imposing trade and economic sanctions that would cripple Fiji’s economy almost over night?

jmcg……..
Please explain tampered ballot boxes, incorrect instructions on how to vote, extra late and extra early closing of voting booths, not to mention several thousand more voting forms issued than were required.Apparently dead men can vote !!!!
Vote:Let the kids come here you mean spirited Labour cretons.

Those boy scouts could probably kick our defense force’s arse if they get all revolutionary on us.
Good move helen.

I bet if it was a Land Rights for Gay Whales Socialist Scout Jamboree they’d let them in…

Helmet – that would be really funny…if it wasn’t quite so close to the truth!

This is really sad for the Scouts, I’m involved in a group in Auckland and I know how much effort we put into fundraising over the last year to get a dozen kids and a few helpers down to Chch for the Jamboree.
Vote:Imagine how much effort the Fijian Scouts have had to put in to raise the money only for Dear Leader to refuse them because of who their Mum or Dad works for. We really are a laughing stock.

I agree with jmc.
Craig, you have to bring pressure to bear on the decision makers: in this case the military. They’re doing that by making it personal.
In the absence of intervention, rightly ruled out (Anyone know how many Fijians are in the SAS? It wouldn’t be an easy fight.) how else can you do it, while at the same time, avoiding persecution of citizens who have no direct say in the policy?

All together now…
“1, 2, 3, 4
We don’t want your
Misogynistic, imperialistic, archaic, conservative
ummm… jamboree… thing”
Hmmm needs more work, but I’m sure the 9th floor can run with it. Better to have Helen in a helmet (sorry, helmet, not you obviously) chanting that at the airport and let the poor little sods in than make us a laughing stock by banning a handful of boy scouts.
It’s all down to woggle envy, I reckon

Pathetic govts posture where they can get away with it.
The compatible Chinese govt is obviously more repressive and murders far more of its subjects than a place like Fiji.
You posture where you can. If you want a free trade deal with China, best apply luvvie disgust elsewhere and shut up.
Though of course, the quicker the incompetent economies of the Pacific understand that they can’t retain tribal stupidities and progress the better.
More subsidised lives.
Vote:Sounds familiar.

I wonder if there are any Scouts attending from Pakistan or Thailand.
At one Jamboree I was a leader at we hosted scouts from Pakistan.
Both Pakistan and Thailand have Military governments but strangely we don’t seem to place sanctions upon them.

So by using the logic of Reid and Jmc we can only hope that Australia will stop all children and adults that have ties to this Liarbore government. Why, well this government has no problem in shuting down free speech against the wishes of a vast majority of the population. You lefties live in a glass house but the windows are fogged up, look at your own corrupt selves first.

Why??
Why is this govt taking this stance. No one else is.
If the jamboree was in Oz all fijiians could attend.
NZ is the only commonwealth country hypocritically sanctioning Fiji.
Why??
Hopefully when National gets in the sanctions will be gone.
If they’re not, there’s a fish in the works,, big time!!
