Mallard pleads guilty

From NZPA:

Cabinet Minister Trevor Mallard has pleaded guilty to a charge of fighting in a public place.

The plea in Wellington District Court this afternoon followed a hearing of the private prosecution taken by Wellington account Graham McCready over Mallard’s alleged assault of National MP Tau Henare in Parliament.

The offence carried no sentence with it and Mallard agreed to donate $500 to a Salvation Army drug and alcohol rehabilitation course.

Mr McCready withdrew a second charge against Mallard over an incident last year with another National MP.

Not a bad compromise.  Mallard will be glad it is over.
