Clark office targeted by climate change protesters

Protestors have clambered onto the roof of 's office in Auckland to highlight what they say is her apparent hypocrisy over climate change.

The Coalition is angry a state-owned company is building an opencast coal mine on the West Coast. Protestor Alex Foulkes says on one hand politicians talk about carbon neutrality, while on the other they let Solid Energy up the earth, producing coal for China.

Protestors say they have had considerable support from people passing by. Mr Foulkes says more protests are in the pipeline, and the Government is all talk when it comes to climate change.

They have a point that not many people realise Helen Clark's record on carbon emissions is eight times worse than George W Bush's and twice as bad as John Howard's.

The UN stats show that the increase from 2000 to 2005 in “Total aggregate anthropogenic emissions of CO2, CH4, N2O, HFCs, PFCs and SF6, including emissions/removals from land use, land-use change and forestry” is the following for each country:
